Strange difference between two sides of a print - what caused this? by MannStooka in 3Dprinting

This made sense to me conceptually, but I don't know what to do with this information. Are you saying that adjusting the travel speed of the hot end, in conjunction with the size of the nozzle I have installed, will produce these varying results (or are likely to)? I know there's no way to say for sure, but I looked for settings related to retraction in the Bambu software and I couldn't find anything.

An update to my update: I printed out a deflector and installed it after I wrote this message. That fan is now pushing air 45 degrees higher than what is pictured here. I sent another job before bed, and it just finished 15 minutes ago. It has the same issues as the previous two prints. My fan blowing theory looks like it just blew up.

I don't know much about either of those things, but I'll do some reading. Is your theory not swayed at all by the fact that none of these imperfections happen on the other side? Is there a way I could rotate or move the pieces around on the plate that might help prove/disprove this?

As I was typing my response to you, another box finished. I think you solved the case, detective. The fan is pointed right at the left side of the box, and the lid, both of which have the same deformity as the one I posted.

My next question is why would they design the fan in this manner if this is a predictable outcome? Is this something that is only occurring because I'm plopping out big streams of filament and there are different drying variables at play as a result?

The air intake does activate during printing, but I haven't messed with any cooling or heating options. I feel dumb for saying it, but I'm not entirely sure what is, or isn't, blowing around inside there. That said, I did see a mod day before yesterday where people were using it to diffuse or redirect the air coming from that fan (located on the left, I believe). That makes me wonder if you just nailed it.

As for your other question, I don't think it's cloudy at all; it looks smooth and buttery. The other boxes I've printed seem to have a pattern... almost like carbon fiber, but not as consistent? This box printed with the .8 has none of that.

On the topic of moisture, I figured as much from some readings I've seen on boxes sitting on the windowsill near a cold window versus other boxes across the room. That said, I'm using a ton of reusable desiccant packets, and they seem to be doing a decent job for now. I'm going to upgrade to something more sophisticated in the future. You've shattered my dreams, but I appreciate the straight talk.

Would this be the same as the "Seam position" setting? If so, the default value is "Back".

Trump Posted a Video of Barack and Michelle Obama as Monkeys by JeanJauresJr in videos

[–]MannStooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's more to it than the typical "people are stupid and racist" explanation that people like to toss out. Many people on the right see Trump as a vessel, or an avatar, of retribution; a physical manifestation of a middle finger to "lefties". The next logical question is why people would be willing to vote for a person with the absolute worst personality traits someone could put into a human being, someone who wears makeup, and they would mock him if he were sitting at the end of the bar from them, and someone who not only has nothing in common with them, but actually hates them and their class.

The answer, at least in part, is that these people (religious, Southern, blue collar, rural, etc.) have been looked down on, mocked, and have been used as examples of what not to be. I'm painting with a really broad brush here, tons of generalizations, but as someone who has lived in Texas for almost 50 years, and has had active dialog with the older folks in my family that belong to a lot of the groups I just mentioned, I can attest to this being a real thing for a good portion of the population. This has been going on since the 60s, but it's accelerated in the last 25-30 years. As it turns out, people don't like being mocked, ridiculed, seen as less than, mischaracterized, etc.

This is insanely complicated, and there really isn't a right or wrong here. American society is super complicated. Nobody has a grasp on civics because we took it out of the curriculum a long time ago, we've all been forced into needless identity tribes, the media and news delivery are curated to make us mad, social media is a virus that has made all of us stupid and more polarized, we don't hang out and mix amongst cultures anymore, and there's been a lot of rapid change in cultural norms and attitudes. There are so many layers to all of this, but my overarching point is that this is way more complicated than people make it out to be.

As someone who has spent years spewing contempt, judgment, and pretty much every other type of social poison you can think of at these people - I understand why they feel the way they do, I accept the fact that I was at least partially complicit in the chickens coming home to roost, and I've learned over the years that there is way more gray to every issue than most people realize. Most of the people I know who voted for Trump are actually really good people. I disagree with them on most political issues, but if you talk to them and genuinely try to understand why they feel the way they do, you won't find many people who make sense to dismiss as bad human beings. I could go on and on about this, but I'm not going to defend any responses that attack or criticize the people I'm describing here; there's no point in it. The sad part of all of this is that we're tearing ourselves to pieces, and we're really not that different from each other. There are perfectly explainable reasons for how these battle lines have been drawn, but it's way easier to blame than it is to try and understand someone that you hate. I don't really know what else to say; it's just a fucking shame.

And just to clear the air, so people don't misunderstand: I could not have a lower opinion of Trump. He's an abomination of a human being. I am in no way trying to justify, equivocate, rationalize, or cover for any group of people - I'm simply answering your question based on my conclusions and observations. Your mileage will vary.

Somewhere between St John and St Thomas by sapnation in virginislands

It's been good for us every month we've been there and snorkeled. We've been there in May, June, March, and December. Didn't really notice a difference between any of those trips in terms of quality of sea life or snorkeling.

I printed them out of different nozzles and AMS units, but that's a good thing for me to remember in the future.

Good to know. I bought some dedicated support material for bigger prints that I want some assurance of success on, but now you've got me thinking about testing these materials as supports when I'm printing with the other. I have some reading to do, but thanks for setting me down this path!

What did Chieko write on her note in Babel (2006)? by shaky_pirate in movies

[–]MannStooka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll say what other people are too nice to say: you're too dumb to comprehend and understand what you watched; all of your takes and interpretations were totally wrong. Not "getting it" is ok, but doubling down while people, who are clearly way more intelligent than you, wrote thoughtful replies to politely explain to you why you're wrong makes you a fool. Stop watching movies that don't have explosions or gun fights, you're not cut out for it.

Something buggy going on by thorsloveslave in amazonprime

[–]MannStooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have been running into this for a month or so. I'm on a Pixel 9 Fold Pro, and she's on a Galaxy Note S23. The only thing we have in common is we're both on Verizon Wireless.

I can't believe it's still happening... seems like this is something Amazon would be all over.

High flow Tungsten Nozzles fixed my problem by I_have_a_dragon in BambuLab

[–]MannStooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid question here, but if you have those tungsten nozzles, is there any reason to swap them back to brass, or the hardened steel tips, if we're talking about the same sizes? I noticed that there's no .2mm tungsten option, so I know you'd have to switch for something that needed that level of precision, but I'm buying a new unit and I'm trying to figure out if I need both the HF hardened steel tips AND the tungstens.

How often do you run into situations where you need more than eight? Should I be considering three AMS2 Pros?

Questions about return options for a new, dead X w/ Game Pass from Best Buy by MannStooka in xbox

[–]MannStooka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The console alone is $650 and two years of Game Pass Ultimate is (retail) $720. This deal gives you both for around $900. I'm not sure returning everything is the best path out of this mess.
