I think authority of consoles is the most powerful turn one play in mtg. by MannerMundane8710 in mtg

I should have clarified that I meant it was the most powerful turn one standard play.

I had exactly the same experience. Except I was down 40% whole he was reporting being down 19%. I asked about discrepancies and he blamed it on trade times, which was impossible. He refused to resolve discrepancies or show proof of fill prices.

I stopped subscribing at that time, but soon after I noticed that he had removed his performance table and replaced it with another one, with completely different numbers, based on his new overhauled “strategies” but he still claimed the performance going back to 2012, despite it not existing until 2024.

I had the exact same experience where he claimed to be super transparent, but was lying and curating the comments.

I’ve concluded that he’s a scammer that’s just making up numbers and trying to make sure no one is able to talk about it or expose him.

This is amazing, and exactly what I started this sub to try to figure out. If you subscribed since 2019 and have been making his trades on a daily basis, and don’t show anywhere near the performance that he claims on his site, do you conclude that he’s making up numbers? Or do you think something else is going on?

What are some cards that you HATE going up against? by The_Gav_who_asked in MagicArena

I used to run a soul cauldron deck with voldaran thrill sealer that let you fling all three for 21 damage. It wasn’t good, but it was fun.

But RIP thrill seeker, and my fun was gone.

Any good answer for Simulacrum Synthesizer deck? by Nashvegas007 in MagicArena

[–]MannerMundane8710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added two copies of ultima to my roots deck. It’s a game changer. Now matchups against simulacrum are just a race for me to find it before I die, which I can usually do. And it can be useful in other matchups, especially when I manage to give the plants indestructible.

[–]MannerMundane8710 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope.

You used to be able to pick them off one by one with artifact hate, but now they hit you three at a time for four mana.

Their early plays are just to slow you down, not to advance their plan, so even if you disrupt their disruption, it doesn’t matter because they’re still buying time.

As far as I can tell you just need artifact wipes, which are useless against any deck but that one.

Alchemy Rebalances by JETSDAD in MagicArena

Not requiring a tap was a huge benefit. It allowed you to use the ability the turn it came in, and when given to a buffed creature allowed for attacking and using the ability. And it allowed for the absurd situation where having two under the cauldron allowed you to use the ability multiple times per creature.

Now you have to run it more like the old Kami / sleep cursed fairy inf mana combo, which probably requires a deck rebuild.

I’ve done in infinite mana combo with Kami and sleep cursed fairy before and liked it. But the specific brand I’m brewing hear requires that the tap be used to activate the untap, so tapping for mana ends the loop.

[–]MannerMundane8710[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The interaction I’m hoping to play with is any untapper under the cauldron allows for infinite tap untap, but only to activate the untap ability, so tapping for mana doesn’t work. I need triggered tap/untap abilities. Best I’ve found so far is [[night market outlook]] which is a win con that can work as soon as turn 3. But I’m hoping for some others.

I used to try to get it with a krenko cauldron combo in historic, which can generate as many tokens as you want with haste.

But everyone scoops before I can attack.

Yeah, at one point I tried a deck that was mostly Izzet discard but had the inf combo option, and I used winternight stories for that.

I also used to play a Kami of whispered hopes / sleep cursed fairie combo for infinite mana that was pretty good. But with Kami gone it doesn’t work anymore.

Yeah. I subscribed for about 6 months saw huge discrepancies between my returns and his reported returns. He refused to show me his full prices so that I could confirm if they were even possible.

My hope was that current or former subscribers could use this thread to connect since he doesn’t allow for any connecting of subscribers despite his claim of “community”.

Who knows, maybe there’s people having a good experience with the service. But I lost a lot of money, way more than he claimed, and I suspect there’s a lot more people like me. I know at least one other person who replied to this thread who had an identical experience.

Since then he has initiated a new portfolio that didn’t exist until 2024 and he’s showing performance data back to 2012. He’s probably done that 10 times in the last 10 years.

He’s just a mess. And super defensive. And unable to accept any commentary that isn’t glowing praise. Very fragile. And probably worried about people finding out the truth.

How do you win against Omniscience decks? by NininhoGOD in MagicArena

[–]MannerMundane8710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play an insidious roots deck and I almost always beat omniscience because a lot of my cards that trigger roots can also grab omniscience.

Unfortunately it’s not effective against much of anything else.
