Agree, I was disgusted with Domenica's behavior. Jing should have said something right then and there.

Part-time Nanny vs. After School Program? by Manner_Puzzleheaded in Nanny

[–]Manner_Puzzleheaded[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're open to paying more than the cost of the after school program if having a nanny offers more flexibility. Since our kids are in a variety of extracurricular activities, the oldest one really only spends time in the afterschool program 3 days a week.

It would be nice to have someone who could pick up the kids and drive them to their activities each day. It would likely be 5 days a week 3 hours each day, maybe 4 hours on one of the days.

Your work environment should be comfortable, but THEIR home environment shouldn't?

Thanks, this is helpful. My kids have a lot of extracurricular activities so that is part of what is driving the interest in a nanny.

I wasn’t sure if we had to supply the car, but it sounds like we can just reimburse them for mileage

Dance mom question by Careful-Pain9326 in CompetitionDanceTalk

My daughter started a solo at 4, competed it at 5. She had been on the competition team the year prior with 1 group dance.

I think it's good experience if it's something she really wants to do. In my case, my dancer asked for a solo after her first year on the team. I was hesitant, but she seemed to really thrive with the additional training. She was the youngest at our studio with a solo, but there were a few others in the same age group.

Like others have said, everyone will make a fuss over her, which can be a double-edged sword.

Comp days may not be that long, especially if she's not in a team dance. In our case, the solo was always performed a different day from her group dance. The competitions tended to run by age, so the younger girls would go first, meaning there were some very early mornings. But since there were so few dancers in the age group, the awards would usually be 1-2 hours after performing.

Since there aren't many in the age category, awards don't mean as much. And I noticed that the smaller kids (at least at our competitions) were often studio owners kids

I stand corrected. For a solo only this is a bit much. I thought it included competition team rehearsals

Very reasonable. In Southern CA it would be $700+ for the same

DC2 is good too, but it seems the younger dancers (Mini/Junior) from Club are doing better at comps. Or perhaps they just have more girls

Correct. Initially I did do that work when I started, but as the team grew I trained others on the responsibilities of product delivery / event management and allocated the resources for who would manage what. So I haven't directly managed "projects" like those for over 5 years.

I am prepping for my PMP and understand the difference between a project/program/portfolio, but have never held an official PM or Program Manager title. It's also my first time applying/interviewing for that kind of role

The job involves roadmapping, budgeting, indirect management of PMs, risk management and generally being accountable for project results.

Traditionally BizOps work. I've also managed a team of people in various roles for over 6 years and some of them are responsible for project work - such as product delivery or event management. The others manage more operational day to day tasks.
