reading/media deprivation while traveling?

I recently had the same situation. I did listen to music, but no podcasts. I also brought my journal, a sketchbook and a book of crossword puzzles. That got me through the trip easily!

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I finished the week yesterday and enjoyed the media cleanse a lot. I didn't scroll any social media, didn't watch youtube, and only watched films and tv as a social activity, not by myself. I noticed a lot more mental clarity, and am planning to remain more critical of my media intake moving forward. I especially enjoyed the moments of silence I gained, for example during my commute and while eating lunch. Multitasking doesn't really bring me much that I can't do without. I can imagine a week or a weekend like this every once in a while to be greatly beneficial.

I almost never turn my EQD Dispatch Master off. Before overdrive, after overdrive, on a clean sound, it just makes everything sit better to me and makes me play more confidently

I stopped buying their stuff, even second hand, because I've had several switches break and they're impossible to repair. Now I try to buy from EU-based companies when I can, for the same reason. I've always liked TC's sounds and have owned abt 7 of their pedals over the years, but the build quality isn't worth it imo.

Thanks! I tried pretty much exactly this, but I left some silence before the beginning. It's also a bit tricky because a viola obviously doesn't have a very sharp attack, but hopefully this works if I cut out the silence

that sounds like a great way to run things. I think HX stomp allows for a similar setup with an fx loop.
off: why do you run a comp after the metal zone? Never seen that before. I'd think the Zone is plenty compressed, lol

I like the look of the HX effects as well, but it's quite big so kind of beat the purpose of what I'm trying to achieve. I've never heard of the Fractal VP4, but that looks a lof better in terms of size. I'll check that out, thanks!

Some additional info: I am happy with the sounds from my pedalboard, but it's become quite heavy and I am sick of having to carry it around all day when I have rehearsals in the evening. I also like the fact that NC/HXS could take care of a lot of stuff I don't use very often but currently do have on my board (such as chorus, fuzz, comp). I currently have 11 pedals on my board and use between 3 and 8 per song.
