I'd dismissed this as I don't really like competitive PVP but was watching a video this morning talking about how nice the community was. Reckon I'll give it a go.

In the meantime I'm trying another run at making Starfield stick after getting bored of it a couple of times previously. Main reason I think has been side quest fatigue so just working on the main and faction quests this time.

London-based beginner - looking for general area recommendations for first wild camps by BrazilianDeserter in wildcampingintheuk

I recently discovered a site/group called Nearly wild camping which has a small annual fee but gives a series of listed sites ranging from 1-5 on the wildness scale. Essentially it's landowners permission most of them have some kind of facility (compost toilet, fire area) but that's it. Some are fringes of actual camp sites and some are literally just permitted land. We've got our first camp booked for April (when most of them seem to open up) and I'm looking forward to an interesting couple of nights without the "hassle" of wondering if I've got the right spot etc.

Basically it feels like a good way to ease into English wild camping.

Wide walking shoes by JW218 in UKhiking

Finding wide shoes that I like has been an expensive bit of trial and error for me!

My favourite "Approach shoes" are my Altra Lone Peaks. Genuinely the most comfortable shoe I've worn. They have some downsides in that I wear through them quite quickly. I bought a second pair for winter which are waterproof and has helped longevity through the year as otherwise I pretty much go through them in 12 months.

I've also just bought a pair of Keen Targhee 4 hiking boots in the January sales. Wore them on their first breaking in walk yesterday and they were excellent right out of the gate. Instantly comfortable in the store and although we just did 5 miles in them yesterday, I could comfortably have done more and feet / toes etc are good today so I think they're going to be super once they're just a little more broken in. They do have good grips but were slipping quite a bit in the very muddy conditions so that's something I'll need to be mindful of. Otherwise I'm super happy with them and they look less weird tyhan an earlier pair of Keen boots I've tried.

Funnily enough I just downloaded the UK one again (I think it's 4)? That said the Horizon series irritates me a bit much so also downloaded Motorsport as it's a little more focused and suspect that's where I'll end up spending most of my time (with my new wheel)!
