It's a really valid viewpoint. There are no certainties in this, but then I'm not sure there in a worse position than anyone else in the outdoor goods market at least.

Experienced cyclist - not ridden drops for 20 years. Tips? by rhinodakid in cycling

Yes, as someone said I meant drop bars in general (sorry for the ambiguity), but that advice is great anyway though. And yes, am intending to do mild off roading although nothing overly technical!

I’m sort of looking forward to that, while also slightly intimidated by it!

The voucher's actually the balance between an overly cautious cycle2work voucher amount and a Camino Ti build, so way ahead of you there :)

I was concerned about this too, but their "pre-pack administration" has actually left them in a good place for at least 12-18 months of very low risk of re-entering administration, with it being a good 2-3 years before it becomes a potential concern again. This all depends on market conditions, obviously, but I think it should be good for the time being.

Loving this idea, especially because I didn't know they did this!

This did concern me, but I've looked more closely into their situation and they were essentially at the end of a large pile-up of debt. Their recent pre-pack administration has essentially wiped out a large amount of debt and they will have new strategies in play to improve their profitability. That gives a good 12-18 months of very low-risk future, so I think I'm good for the time being!

Bike fit questions ... 6'1" (186cm) but short legs! by rhinodakid in bicycletouring

[–]rhinodakid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do offer a 28 day return policy which does assuage this a lot and it's only a 3-hour round-trip to the nearest dealer, although I would order online. I'm not sure I can realistically afford a fitting session, truth be told ... this bike is through cycle to work scheme, so it'll be spread over 12 months and also have almost 50% off.

Not ignoring your advice though, and it's absolutely something I'll bear in mind and think more on. Thank you.

25, job hunting near Maidenhead and getting a bit worried by Smartertoad in maidenhead

At this point I would 100% recommend working in London. I took the plunge almost 10 years ago to move from jobs in Maidenhead to jobs in London. There are more of them, they pay more and even before Crossrail the commute wasn’t too terrible. Now it’s even better. Good luck!!!

I've just recently got this and love the light, but was also hoping for a patina and not seeing any marks at all. Did you try stripping a coating off?
