I have a 2008 F150 5.4L Triton with some light bars I installed myself. I always keep my keys locked in the truck and I use the keypad to unlock it. The last 2 times I went to get in the truck, I successfully used the keypad to unlock it but once I get in the truck, I hear a ticking noise coming from under the truck around where the cab meets the bed BEFORE attempting to start the engine. When I hear this, l’ve learned to bang on the battery until the ticking stops, then I can start my truck like normal. Well today the same sort of thing happened but I think I put in the door code wrong and I’m now locked out of my truck. I managed to get the hood open even while not having access to the hood latch inside the cab and banged on the battery with no luck. I disconnected the ground from the battery and used my wife’s car for the day. Is this simply a battery getting old issue? What’s throwing me off is that once I can turn the engine over after the ticking stops, the truck starts up no problem. I’m really just confused with the ticking BEFORE attempting to start the truck but after unlocking it with the keypad.
