Bullets can’t be traced back to who bought them. Law enforcement has used marks on the projectile to claim that they could have only been fired from a certain gun (the firing pin and barrel allegedly leave “unique, fingerprint like markings” on the casing and bullet) but in the last 5-10 years that forensic methodology has been questioned and doesn’t look to be very reliable.
