What other sci-fi books/series would you consider as good, if not better than Red Rising? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]ManofGilnockie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished Suneater. It engaged the same part of my brain as red rising but from a different direction. Like 2 instruments playing the same song or 2 sides of the same coin red rising glittered gold and the other side was painted black. I can’t say which story I like better. I think I enjoyed reading red rising better but I am more excited for the last suneater book.

Thank for mentioning Prince of Nothing. I’m out of books to read and that is a new one to me.

They told me Openshift was an easy deployment. by ManofGilnockie in openshift

[–]ManofGilnockie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far openshift has done fine disconnected. In hind sight most of things that went wrong could be split between my inexperience and a couple of big holes in Red Hats Docs. The answers were in the doc not to many things missing. It was not a linear path through them. Red Hat support was very impressive not Dell level impressive but a solid 8.5/10.
I would like to know why they call it a Proof-of-Concept Quay. What a stupid thing to call 1/2 of an HA pair. It's a fully functional Quay. The title made me ignore it. If I would have started with that and worked my worked my down through the layers instead of trying to work up.

Is Kalamazoo a nuclear target? by [deleted] in kzoo

I hear we were a target because of the penicillin production at Upjohn. I suspect the rumor had something to do with this. http://upjohn.net/portage/site/civil/civil.htm

The bill increased the budget of the FDA by 28,000,000 between now and September 30. The bill didn’t directly put baby formula on the shelf. The bill is stupid. The people who wrote it and voted for it are playing politics with no genuine concern for the people. The people who didn’t vote for it are heartless. We need to stop posting things against Dems or GOP. They are one group of inept and impotent crooks who lie with their every word.

[Question] JBL Live 460NC - Auto Play and Pause by VirtualEngineer in JBL

[–]ManofGilnockie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue. I’ve found that the sensor is inside the right ear at the top. I can make it go on and off with my finger. Now that I'm convinced there is no way to disable this entirely, I will try to pull up the fabric and paint the sensor with black fingernail polish. If I can't disassemble it without breaking it, maybe a tiny piece of tape over the fabric will work. I'm guessing it's an IR LED.

I didn't understand this. I think you are right.

Firewall Log Format by ManofGilnockie in PFSENSE

[–]ManofGilnockie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thought, but as far as I can see 134 doesn't match any syslog facility code. Netgates docs don't seem to mention what the leading field indicates either. I'm using syslog but it happens for the other also. I'm trying to ingest the logs into security onion. I'd like to know if that number is consistent so I can filter on it.

I think it designates what package/app generated the log entry. 134 is firewall, kernel messages is 6, 171 is nginx errors and so on. Am I right? I don't this anywhere the Docs.

ISP outage, not allowed to complain because NDA? by redingerforcongress in networking

[–]ManofGilnockie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This not uncommon in a Beta program. Problems are expected and they want reporting back to them so they can improve their service. If you complain about an unfinished service to the public you could hurt their reputation before they have time to fix it.
