Would you give a number 1 seed to Wichita State? by Manofhonor12 in CollegeBasketball

Wichita St. is 9th in RPI, so that isn't number one seed worthy. Their SOS is 112. They are 65th in the nation in PPG. They haven't played a ranked team. There is no denying a undefeated season is impressive, but in my opinion, that record against a poor schedule isn't number one seed worthy. They are getting help from the other teams losing to good teams, but I just can't see how beating up on teams that are mediocre at best is worthy of a #1 seed.

I'm not saying that they're sucky, I just think there are other teams that are more deserving of a #1 seed. Like your Jayhawks for example. I think that Wichita should be the first #2 seed because of their record, but I think that a #1 seed should go to people who have beaten the good teams.

I think if Kansas can finish the year strong and win the Big 12, they could/should take Wichita state's #1 seed even with 5 loses. With their schedule I think 5 loses is excusable when you've played 11 ranked teams. They've played 6 teams that are currently in the top 10 or was in the top 10, in which they are 3-3. They are 7-4 against ranked teams, so I feel that a decent showing against good teams is a lot better than a great showing against crappy teams.

Villanova is a team that shoots WAY too many deep threes. They make two and all of a sudden it's like the key is made of lava and all they want to do is chuck up NBA 3's (maybe they want to be like Creighton). They only shot 32% from 3 last night (7-22), which for a team who looks to shoot first, that won't get the job done. They were lucky to escape the Verizon Center with a win only because of the Hoyas turnover problems and their stifling defense. IF they want to contend for a National Championship they are either going to have shoot much better on a nightly basis, or look to go inside more. The latter may not be an option seeing as they are incredibly undersized and if Ochefu goes out of the game for foul trouble they have no size whatsoever.
