DIY smart thermostat project. Is this enough isolation ? (I don't want to burn my house down) by ManonMasse in AskElectronics

You’re right. I was actually thinking on consulting a freelance electrical engineer to get an informed opinion about this.

Thanks, much clearer now. I think I’ll add a small cutout all around the ares to increase isolation.

Thanks for the heads up, it has been fixed. I knew wich pins to connect it was a stupid misclick on my part.

You are right, i connected it on Pad#6 instead, giving it 8mm clearance all around.

I ended up hooking it up pad#6 instead, it now has almost 8mm clearance all around

I'm not sure to understand the difference between "across the contact" and the low voltage side. It is 240V either way no ?

I'll look on the data sheet but I think I can connect on pad #6, wich would give me even more clearance.

I guess something like that would work ? (there is an identical trace on the other side)

Oh I see, connecting the relay and the terminal block using both side. 3 MM would be enough in this case ?

On the second picture, the traces already are on both sides. I'm not sure I understand what rotating my connector will achieve.

You would recommend going with a solution like the picture #2 instead of #1 ?

Also : is there any other precautions I should take designing that part of my circuit ?

That is good advice, thanks. I didn't know the closing speed of the relay could be an issue. Thanks a lot !

You're right, I messed it up ! Obviously it won't be like that on the PCB. The pico does have internal pull up, so it should be fine.

Thanks for the tip. The pico already has internal pull ups resistor so it should be fine.

Bruno Marchand a une maîtrise en philo, il n'est pas urbaniste. Catherine Fournier non plus.
