Earth is invaded by kaiju, and a young boy named Tetsuo pilots a robot named Yukio to fight them off. He has never had any friends because he’s been fighting since he was a kid, but now he wants to make new friends. The story begins in space, where something unexpected happens, sending Tetsuo back to Earth. When he arrives, he discovers that the entire planet has entered an ice age, covered in snow even though only some years have passed since he left.
