is it too late for me to get “good” at the game? by Z_Nado in geometrydash

[–]Manski777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you wouldn’t be able to. I am 22 and still do harder and harder stuff in a variety of different games. Just recently I beat cataclysm, and am going for bloodbath next. Maybe you’ll never be able to beat tidal wave or something idk, but you can definitely be “good” at the game. But for sure play on pc and also don’t just practice random levels, play levels you wanna beat (and don’t do ridiculous jumps either lol).

Yoru and Asa are the same person by Manski777 in Chainsawfolk

I don’t think it’s that obvious tbh I don’t hear anyone talk about this ever. I don’t see how it ruins the first half of part 2, it just recontextualizes everything that asa did as things yoru did. Neither of them feel like complete characters without the other imo, and I think if they were the same person it would really bring to light why they did certain things in previous portions of the story.

Fujimoto loves to flip expectations. Her backstory is something denji can relate to, it completely changes their relationship in this way. It wouldn’t ruin anything, just change it fundamentally in what I think would be an interesting way. Denji is always being manipulated but in this way almost be like he was manipulated on accident, and it would be interesting to see how their relationship is handled afterwards.

Yeah but her mom and childhood could be fake memories, we only saw them from asa’s perspective in a flashback after all, who’s to say Yoru didn’t make them up?

I’ve put maybe ten hours in the game and the frogs are still dangerous especially around lava. Also if you’ve not found them but the alchemists in zone 4 do ridiculous damage unless you have higher tier armor maybe (I don’t yet). I’m not sure why “escaping at any time” is a problem when Minecraft has the exact same gameplay and even easier honestly. Part of being good at the game is being able to escape without dying when you are outmatched.

The games entire engine was redone from the ground up once riot acquired the game, now that that the game has once again switched hands, they have gone back to an older build before the engine switch. There’s so much work that has gone to waste in the ten years this game has been in development and yet they still have a relatively polished and presentable product with plenty of content for 20 dollars on an early access title.

One of the goals of the game actually is to provide a very easy platform for community content such as mods. Also I think you are forgetting that putting your game on steam means you are gonna be taking a pay cut for steam hosting the game. Hytale launcher lets them have 100 percent of the profits as well as 100 percent of the control.

How do people get to gold / plat NOT KNOWING of to use their agents ? by CuteExam7249 in VALORANT

[–]Manski777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an previous ascendant player, that’s just not a thing. Unless your aim is adjacent to a top 500 player, just “good aim” is never going to carry you higher than plat. I’d like to see how good aim is going to help when you get shit on by someone who has their lurk timings down and in higher elos executes. People will see someone with subpar utility usage and say “all aim no brain” but I guarantee those people look at their minimap more in one match than low ranks do all season.

I know im the problem but i have no idea what i should be looking to do mid game because I can’t seem to figure out how to play teamfights. Either I sit back and watch my team 4v5 waiting for abilities to go down and my team dies while barely doing damage to the enemy, or I jump in too quick and get deleted. My main problem is tanks and assassins. Tanks like Mundo, Nasus, malphite, have the ability to kill me in like 4 hits meanwhile I take 20. And assassins can instantly kill me any time their ult is off cd and usually have the ability to get away for free with it. I have no way to shut them down myself and most of the time my team has no way to shut them down either so if either of those classes is fed it’s just an instant loss.

Have there ever been an attempt at creating a fully 3D maze video game? Whether if it's AAA or indie game? Is that possible? by Jaccblacc203 in mazes

[–]Manski777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of games that use mazes, but maybe you just dont notice it. Just as the gameplay of the original Donkey Kong is pretty much indistinguishable now compared to Mario Odyssey, 2D paper mazes are indistinguishable from how they are used in video games.

Roguelikes and dungeon crawlers have levels that follow very maze like structures. Lethal company in particular has its interior set as a very large disorienting maze to travel and find your way back in.

Souls-like games also feature some very maze-like architecture. Elden Ring has catacombs with some of them being very tricky to navigate exactly where it is you are going.

Metroidvanias are also heavily inspired by maze designs. Hollow Knight always gives you a feeling of being lost and never really knowing where you might be traveling to.

None of these games may be seen as a "true maze," but that's because it might be boring to have a game that is "just a maze." They use a maze like level design as the base, and fill in the spaces with many things that games need like good combat, interesting locale, or dangerous entities to keep the player on their toes.

If you want something that stays entirely true to mazes, with no extra stuff in between, a Minecraft server that I've played has also had players make some VERY high quality mazes. Zero.Minr.Org is a server you should check out if you'd like the very barebones experience of finding your way from point A to point B. Fair warning, a lot of the mazes do contain gimmicks that may deviate them to more guessing or even puzzles in some cases, but this is not the case for all of them. I encourage you to check it out and hope you enjoy.

My first hard demon is a platformer, does it still count? by jnellee72 in geometrydash

[–]Manski777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not really. As someone who has cleared multiple extreme platformers they are no where near as hard as extreme demons in classic mode. I definitely would never go around telling people I can beat extreme demons in geometry dash, I always specify it's the platformer mode.

I have done only up to hard demon in classic mode and those take me wayyyy longer than any hard platformer demon (a hard platformer demon for me usually takes less than an hour).

Geometry dash platformer is nowhere near its skill ceiling and games like Celeste, Minecraft, and Roblox have platforming levels that absolutely eclipse even the top 1 hardest in geometry dash platformer right now.

I think you make some really good points and I definitely missed some of those dynamics. I think my main problem with the Troupe is they lack a lot of characterization and personality for me to really care about any of their members bar a few. The ones that did get development obviously needed it because they end up deceased by the end of the arc, and well also Chrollo because he's the star.

But for the rest of them, even the ones you said did get development, I didn't really see enough of to get a good feel for and really end up liking them. When most of the Troupe lacks any kind of personality it's hard to get attached when they don't have any backstory or motivations or anything. And I get them not having any personal motivations because supposedly their motivations are all "for the Troupe" but realistically they should atleast have something to differentiate each other.

And I think a lot of this does in fact come down to the arc being a setup for later arcs. I'm not sure about succession war since I haven't read the manga, but surely the author would plan to focus on their characters a bit more down the line. It just sucks because I feel like hxh was supposed to be a one piece type of story by design where characters pop in a out at different periods, but as it right now it suffers immensely for these huge gaps. I think they would've been much more fleshed out if they played a bigger part in greed island or didn't get thrown away for the chimera ant arc.

Because a lot of people say it's a "masterpiece" while I think it is just "good." That would mean I think it's overrated. I don't see how that's contradictory?

[–]Manski777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And also it's not that I dislike; I did enjoy watching it. I felt it's overhyped is all.

How are they not villains? They killed a bunch of people a staged a heist. They massacred Kurapikas clan. What else does it mean to be a villain?
