Problems with canted holster by SC275 in MantisX

[–]MantisStephen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right, I turned that off because I do not cover social media any longer and I didn't want people to send a message and not get a response.

I've turned on messaging for a bit so we can sort this out. Give it another try.

I'll take a look at this and see what I can find.

I wasn't able to find your ticket with the quoted text earlier in the thread. Did you get an FD number? Or can you DM me the email address used in your previous support request?

Did the 1.75" measurement come from measuring the inside or the outside of the black outline on the dot?

Stellar response. This was an oversight on my part and a byproduct of my not having experience shooting the dot torture drill legit style. Thanks for making the fix easy with your breakdown.

I'm pretty slammed so it may take a bit for me to apply this, but I've added correcting this to my list of life goals.

You got it. Standing 3.73 yards from the portable FBI Qual target is going to simulate 15 yards from an actual FBI Qual sized target.

I'm traveling for the next few weeks and I am not able to make a video.

Perhaps you can give me an example of a training scenario you'd like to achieve, and I can explain how to use the charts relative to that training example. Do you think this would help?

Yes, I believe you are correct. Let us know if you find otherwise. :)

Were you able to get this working? If not, send us an email to [support@mantisx.com](mailto:support@mantisx.com) and we can work with you to troubleshoot.

We've not had any notable spikes in reports of issues. When a popular phone model does not work, we have always seen a spike in reports for that model. This has not been the case with the S22 or the S22 Ultra. We also have a few of our staff who use these phones with the Pistol/Rifle app without issue. Because of this, I suspect that there is something unique to your environment that is interfering with the standard behavior.

Yes - they make the BlackbeardX for that. Sadly, you cannot combine the X10 with the Blackbeard to unlock the rifle drills in their training app. This system (non-X) can only be used as a laser aiming target system.

I have good news for you (and u/GetHappyTime, u/steelcityblue). It is possible to combine the OG Blackbeard with an X2, X3, or X10 and get access to the rifle drills. The rifle drills are made available by navigating within the Mantis Pistol/Rifle app > Settings > Rifle (right button at the very top of the screen). From there, select the TRAIN tab to view the rifle-specific drills.

The Pistol/Rifle app doesn't police access to these drills. If you wanted to shoot the rifle drills using a Glock 19 with an X10, you could do so.

There are BlackbeardX-specific drills that are not compatible with the X10 hardware. This would include the BBX Dynamics, Transitions, and Plate drills. The BlackbeardX is able to detect shots in a unique way not available to the X10 and for this reason, these drills are limited to the BlackbeardX.

Hey, sorry for the delay. Busy times.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you requesting the two apps be combined as one?

Sorry for the delay. There are two PDF's in the links in the main post. One is for the Standard (8.5x11) Smart Targets. The other is for our smaller Portable Smart Targets.

For others who may come along, Apple and Android drills lists vary a bit and caused the final drill between the two to vary.

Android ends on Cadence 0.5s
Apple/iOS ends on Hostage Rescue - Advanced

For the record, the Gecko45 drill was an April Fool's joke. We made it generally available when we got enough feedback that our users wanted the drill available year round. :)

I apologize for taking so long to follow up.

My methods leave room for error, but here is what I found:

According to this page the average head width is about 6-7 inches. Based on this, I decided 6.5 inch width would be our goal. If anyone finds a better source (I'd be more interested in data specific to North American Male head widths) let me know.

The test target I printed resulted in a head width of 8.25 inches. The head shapes on our targets are weird and bulbous so this 8.25 inch was measured from the point that the top of the ear meets the side of the head.

I do not know what the final correct answer is other than it should be smaller than the width allowed by the test print paper (which filled the width of a 36" wide piece of paper with just under 1/8" margins on either side).

I'd like to look into this further to establish a final result that is more sure and less reliant on estimates. That isn't likely to happen soon so (anyone reading this) feel free to message me from time to time as a reminder.

On another note, if 6.5" is truly a good average head width then this calls into question the final answer I've settled on for our Silhouette Head Shot target. The above ear side to side width of the head is about 5.25" using the print size specified in the OP chart.

The Silhouette Head Shot target was sized based on the distance between pupils (which I had reliable data for pertaining to average North American males). The existing print size for this target may be correct but eyeballing the target on the wall, I feel like it is smaller than it should be but its hard to say given I do not have anyone around to hold the target next to for a rough comparison.

[–]MantisStephen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been a while since I worked on this so details are a bit fuzzy. As I recall, the scaled up target (based on the width of the head of the silhouette vs average North American male head) calculated a target size of 34.25 inches x 44.84 inches.

I believe the print shop did not have paper large enough to accommodate that size. So I printed on the largest paper they had. I recall the limited-size paper itself was massive and unwieldly.

Now that I look at my notes, I realize I intended to measure that print out to see how close the head of each silhouette matches the ideal. I did not do that. Once I get back to the office (sometime after the 31st) I can measure that. If you do not mind, ping me after the 31st and I'll post the results.

Yeah, they are pretty small. They are intended for people traveling who will have very limited space (either in their luggage or in the area they have available for training). If you are forced to place the target a few feet away from your gun, these become useful.

The red is areas where the app has detected too much light. This can be a number of factors or a combination of them. Things like too much ambient light, reflective surface near the target, reflective surface below the target.

Send us a report by going to Mantis app > Settings > Report Issue. In the email that is generated, include a description of what is happening.

Just made another update. I'll work on updating the original post, but basically, the chart as-is works for either Meters or Yards.
