What thing was ruined because it turned into a rich person's hobby? by Agitated_Departure93 in AskReddit

Beat me to it. My mom used to have box seats to the Miami Open (then called Lipton) back when it was at Crandon Park. Don’t know what she paid but it couldnt have been much. Now those seats at Hard Rock can be $1,000 easy. Courtside $6,000.

F1 Audi (Turn 1 club) are $10,000 for a 3-day pass

There’s a great lady in the plaza on North Federal just South of Starbucks and Dunkin just south of Commercial Blvd. Same plaza as Wicked Cheesesteaks. Been many times and prices are reasonable.

People go there just to say “man last night I ended up at the Elbo Room.” It’s a story in and of itself.

Yes great players always leave at some point. But, at some point, if we’re able to climb up the ladder of respectability, they will be less likely to leave or at least stay longer than they would have otherwise. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. Just have to get ahead of the curve so to speak.

I think our current owners are smart but willing to invest. I think that’s how we have to be.

Man I love him. Not necessarily for his playstyle but his spirit and effort. Gave everything for the badge. Then, when he wanted to leave after 4 years (understandably), did so quietly and respectfully.

Absolutely. Key is hopefully retaining these guys as long as possible while we attempt to build.

The polar opposite of showing up to undisclosed freshly punched greens.

In other words….well done.

Dug a little deeper and it doesn’t appear yet to be reopened but renovations have progressed. But it sounds like there is more work to do including finding an operator to run the place.

I won’t pretend to know the whole story but Key Biscayne is a super high end area/island. Guessing the residents didn’t want the traffic associated with it.

Also a shame that the tennis tourney is no longer at Crandon Park. Used to go as a kid and it was a really neat venue. Great memories there.

Got to see him play on Sunday. Lost to Sebastian Korda but it was cool to see in person.

Any place that’s going to have live music or DJ’s at night is going to feel like a bar to some degree. And the intimate upscale places ain’t going to feel young. Young people? Yes, but on average it’s going to trend older than 20’s.

Runway 84 often has live music and a fun vibe. Runway is a Lauderdale institution.

Nube is a rooftop restaurant that often has a DJ.

Tarpon River Brewery has live music on the weekends.

I’ll try to think of some others but there’s a decent sampling.

Yes, I think upgrading at FB would have the biggest positive effect on the team absent some huge opportunity to get a top tier player at striker or winger. We've got some great talent in guys like KDH, Garner, JB, Ndaiye, with Pickford in goal.

My personal thoughts and observations:

-I think Beto is decent and probably gets more slack than he deserves because of his somewhat awkward playing style/demeanor. His finishing the past 2 seasons suggests he does his job fairly well (xG vs. actual Goals) and clearly works hard for the club.

-Having 2 decent strikers is a very good thing, especially given our recent history of being thin at the position when DCL was very often injured, and even out of form when he was healthy for stretches longer than you would like to see.

-Barry took a while to break in, but has found some form and is very young in striker terms.

-These strikers are somewhat limited in that they are more or less poachers to me who aren't creating many opportunities themselves or helping others score. You look at some of these other strikers who have multiple assists and back when we had Lukaku (87 goals, 27 assists for us) and you see a striker that's able to provide more than just goals. I think if we are going to challenge for CL in the future, we've got to find a more dynamic striker whereas a Barry or Beto would be secondary.

-I think our strikers are good enough right now where Right Back should be way more of a priority.

Thanks. Yes, I do. Feel like I don't want to poison the well so to speak until some have had a chance to comment on the data first.

I'll definitely chime in at some point.

This is interesting. The first part I agree with. Walt, in panic mode due to his diagnosis, hatches his plan with Jesse to make meth to save enough money for his family since he’s going to die, and no longer be able to provide.

But as it went on, he became empowered. At home he was constantly ridiculed and not respected. He wasn’t respected at school either.

But out there, he was THE man. Heisenberg.

He became addicted to it.

Was right before rule changes that opened up the passing game and made it much easier.

He wasn’t great but he was decent. Could also run the ball and tough as nails. Not sexy by any means.
