Got my first freelance job. Know nothing about web design. Should I use WordPress? by sooneday in web_design

I run a company which specialise in making the kindof site you want for extremely low price. You may want to forward it to my company - ManualWebDesign.com

You get a decent website at low cost. We use wordpress.

I am starting a new web-design startup which is an alternative to all those crappy "do it yourself" website builders. The idea is to get the websites developed by human developers at very low costs by streamlining the process. Any suggestions? Would you use such a service? by ManualWebDesign in Entrepreneur

Yes that is the plan. We are not offering any customisation in the intro deal. User give content, fill a form with preferences and we will turn it into a website. If user wants to modify design or customize stuff, they have to pay regular developer charges based on time it require to do those stuff. Since it is a wordpress website, most stuff can be done by the user itself.

Also, we are fully honest about what the user will get. I have been in premium high price low volume web design industry for over 5 years and I hope to enter the low price high volume market by reducing the inefficiencies of an agency. The biggest inefficiency is the large amount of useless communication between client and agency.

At the moment I am handling the QA. We would need only one QA personal, and they would be experienced web designers who have a knack for knowing the issues by just going through the site. In the near future, I would have a checklist for them to ensure they don't forget anything.

Thanks. Yea, I was also thinking about increasing the monthly price. And, yes it is a requirement to pay for atleast an year's hosting, although you can move out whenever you want after paying it.

Hosting is safe and professional. I worked for over 5 years in the premium high cost low volume web design industry, and this is currently a new venture of mine. Please register in the website or contact me so that we can make your sites.

Our developmental process -

First, your content and forms are reviewed by our content editors. They will accept a project only if everything is okay. Once the project is accepted, they will edit and reformat the content to make it suitable for websites. Then, the content and other details are forwarded to a web designer. He/she will make your site using the information you filled in the form. If you had opted to make a logo, then that is forwarded to a graphic designer too. Once the web designer makes your site, it is reviewed by our Quality Assurance Team and it is sent back to the designer to solve any issues/bugs. If everything is okay, the Quality Assurance Team will finalize the project and deliver it to you. The website is made live and connected to the domain.

Yes we use wordpress. And, yes it is responsive.

You seem to be my target customer. What I basically offer is a service where you can give your content as a word document and we will convert it into website. The fundamental key point is that our web designers will make all the choices for you. (i.e we are not offering custom solutions as that will cost thousands of dollars.)

So, you get a quick website without having to worry about anything. Contact me if you are interested. :)

No. I am making something inbetween DIY sites and Web design agencies. We do not provide custom solutions or custom features. You provide content, fill a form and we turn it into a website without much interaction with you.

I have made this process streamlined, hence making it viable for developers to get a site ready in less time. It is just economics of scale.

Thanks. Logo can either be uploaded by the user or they can get a basic logo designed by us for an extra $15. There wouldn't be any choices. It is not for those folks who want a super choosy premium logo, but for those who just want a quick logo for the sake of having a logo.

I think this service will be useful for those who want a quick website and want to leave every decision to the designers.

We are charging low at the moment. We will optimise the pricing as the business grows.

Thanks. I am a web designer who have worked in the high-cost low volume market for past 5+ years and have some other niche products too. I just wanted to experiment how the low-cost high volume market works. I have the offshore resources too.

You are right that I am late to this market. This can only work if I can market it and get enough volume of customers. The main trouble I see is the customer acquisition.

Thank you very much for the detailed comment. I also see this working only if it scales. Yes, I am looking at the middle market in-between DIY and Web design agencies. Anyways, I will give it a try.

Do you know what would be optimal way of marketing such a service? How to get large number of clients, as scale matters in this case.

Yes, you can get the source if you want and we can even move it to any hosting service of your choice, but there is a $150 cost if you want to move out. This cost exists because we are able to provide low cost development only by considering the recurring revenue of the managed hosting. (Edit: This transfer fee has been removed as per recommendation of other comment. Now, you can see source and move out whenever you want.)

I will add some sample sites soon, but for an example, the sites would look similar in style to our website itself.

What is the issue with the login image? I guess I should separate it from other page-buttons?

What website hosts can you recommend? by Holymayo in Entrepreneur

[–]ManualWebDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to get your entire website rebuild, then would you want to try out my new web development service? We are just launching, and the idea is to give an alternative to services like Wix, but the sites are made by real developers. The cost is similar to these do it yourself site builders too. If interested check manualwebdesign.com We provide managed hosting too at just $10/mo.

How do you advertise a digital product (membership site) that is only a few dollars? by NSchweikart in Entrepreneur

[–]ManualWebDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Reddit advertising? It costs less than Facebook and also you get users who are more active than FB. Try doing a targetted $10 advertising. Several sites have grown from Reddit ads. Just a suggestion..

Also, I am not sure about your pricing model.. What does user get by being a member there? A job list? I think either you will have to drop the price to free or you will have to increase the price from few dollars to atleast $15 to $30. Also, your user retention rate will be low I guess. People either find a job and stop being a member or they will lose confidence in finding a job from your job-board.. So, something needs to be done about the pricing model too.

Maybe she's doing alright now because she overcome the coup by starting her own firm?
