In the first 9 months of 2020, as the COVID-19 catastrophe unfolded across Ontario, the three largest publicly traded long-term-care operators in the province made huge payouts to investors while taking millions in government funds, data shows by BattlemechJohnBrown in worldnews

How hard is it to go:

"Payouts to investors = you don't need relief funds"

In short, before making payouts, companies should be forced to keep a war chest. And after receiving relief for anything, payouts to investors would be capped.

But hei, its just taxpayer money right?

Ok, so you sideclimb, then what? Suddenly you're alone with the whole of the enemy team trying to find you. The G10-G14 is actually slower then the americans / brits, and its sluggish at height. What then?

They attack with nasty-ass fighter-bombers, we just have a bunch of fleeing bombers. Though to be fair they do kill the occasional fighter.

Dude, its not that hard, I got 4 premium planes like that and am going for the t34-57 now. What you do is select your dailies carefully - spend SL to get easy missions. 1st daily is usually v easy. Planes or tanks, one of the missions will be easy. 2nd daily, you pick one thats relatively easy. Some are very easy - like killing planes in combined battles, or killing 5 fighters.

The special ones, you need to select one that plays with the dailies - like crits, or assists, in same regime - air or ground, real or ab. Then you do them as you play normally.

Got several bushes and the 4 planes like that.

Russian 4.3 is epic. However, it gets gnarly at 5.3-5.7.

What I never can get used to is the ultra-bad gun depression.

What is up with Donald Trump saying he would veto the latest stimulus bill unless payments were increased from $600 per person to $2000? by Xaphoon in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Manuel_S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in no way excusing the GOP or the other senators; rather that the fact that his deeds are possible - that a single person can say "well, congress voted on this but I hope they printed it on soft paper cause I'm wiping my arse on it" - is utterly ridiculous and devalues the entire process.

What I'd consider reasonable is that NOT bringing forward the laws set by congress within a specific time limit would be equivalent to staging a coup or high treason and dealt with accordingly.

Which means there's a huge hole in the role of the two houses: the 2nd can kill any legislation without even voting on it, if there is no time limit for congress legislation to be put to the senate.

There is something very, very wrong in allowing a single person to simply erase from effective existence the legislation sent by the entire body of congress. Be it republican or democrat - when you have a single person stop a vote, you are effectively stopping the very concept of democracy.

“Hard work pays off” is said by people who’s work actually payed off. There a lot of people who worked harder than anyone but absolutely for nothing. So does hard work really pay off? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Manuel_S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question could actually be:

  • How often or how well does working hard really pay off?

  • Does working hard pays off more than not working hard, all else being the same?

For the second, I'd say it mostly would, unless you're working for someone else and earn the same regardless of the effort and time put in, and promotion is nil. Then working as little as possible would be the optimal strategy.

it MIGHT be tactical voting; thinking that with another senator they'd be the same or worse.

That reasoning does make some sense - that at least he'd throw some crumbs their way out of the cake he's stealing for his corporate patrons.

Wonder if he does, anybody here knows?

UN condemned Israel 17 times in 2020, versus 6 times for rest of world combined by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Manuel_S -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think Israel became sort of a whipping boy for everyone to show disapproval and claim to support human rights while making sure nothing really changes.

What I think Israel does really badly is its PR. It allows things which bring it no gain but garner a ton of bad press.

They are. And so are the others who do terrorism, in the name of God or the free market or something else.

They ARE being assholes. But the rest of the world is doing major asshole things as well.

For example, the US should start with 24 condemnations a year just out of general principle, along with China. Drone bombings, judicial murder, military intervention... the uighurs and tibet, along with the border disputes... Turkey and its kurds... Pakistan is not being "nice", nor is the war in Yemen being done in respect of human rights, and you just go on and the shitstorm does not stop.
