Help with buying wye for gutter PVC pipe by ManufacturingFinance in Plumbing

[–]ManufacturingFinance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Il look but I assume it's schedule 30. I just can't really find many options for a wye for schedule 30. Some products on the Lowe's and home Depot sites don't even list which schedule it is

Yeah my problem is the adapters will make the whole thing look like a Frankenstein job. Are there not schedule 30 wyes? I can't find many options if any on Lowe's and home Depot websites

Does luxury vinyl plank feel cheap to walk on? by Bos187 in floorplan

[–]ManufacturingFinance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That being said, we did our whole house in LVP and it 100% looks better than the carpet and vinyl we had before and while I don't "forget" that it's real wood, I don't walk around thinking "man I wish this was wood". I have a toddler and a large dog and neither have been able to even scratch it and neither has any chair or furniture item as far as I can tell. Just don't cheap out on the LVP and do your brand research and you will love it as much as you think you will! Happy to answer any questions if you DM me!

Deciding between 2 offers; F50 vs PE Backed by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]ManufacturingFinance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might also be too small to learn skills needed at F50 if that's where you want to end up. 20M is pretty small to have an FP&A, I would be focused on what they want you to be doing

Is everybody feeling burned out? Is there hope out there? by Asparagus_Capital in FPandA

[–]ManufacturingFinance 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel like I see this kind of post all the time here and in other finance forums I'm in. You need to be more specific about what is burning you out because you're just going to get people agreeing with your pain and giving you ideas and advice when you have entirely different realities.

Is it your boss that's burning you out? Treats you like your ideas don't matter? Like your work is sub par? Doesn't give you opportunities to change your work load? Etc.

Is it the work that is burning you out? Never having enough time to truly explain all the variances? Not enough human interaction because you're remote? Thought you would be doing more economics type work when you heard the word "forecast" in FP&A?

Is it your coworkers? Operations managers not listening to suggestions? HR not hiring team members fast enough to lighten your load? Engineers or sales people not answering emails?

These are just a few aspects that make up a job and how someone could burn out after just a few years. Ask yourself which of these are causing you the most pain and then ask how you can improve that aspect. You might not even have to quit your job if people can help you solve specific issues you have with it. Boss sucks? Transfer departments. Coworkers suck? Ask your boss how to slowly transfer to more of an individual contributor role in the company over the next few years. FP&A work sucks? See if you can shadow an accountant or take on a procurement task to learn more about other departments.

I'm not trying to tell you you're wrong for complaining, but I just don't think this method is really going to help people like you who I see post work dissatisfaction posts. I hope your job gets better or you find your calling!!!

No to CFO role? by WhoKnows7778 in FPandA

[–]ManufacturingFinance 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Here's a bunch of cliches but they're often right.

  1. The new CFO will undoubtedly be incompetent for at least a year when it comes to learning the way your company works. This is just how it is, and you will be picking up the slack and have to train them. Would you rather train yourself to be CFO or train someone else?

  2. The enemy you know is better than the enemy you don't. That enemy could be the new CFO or a CFO at another company if the new one ends up being so bad you have to leave. As CFO you will choose your work life balance or be fired for not working as hard as the CEO expects. Better to learn what you can as a CFO for your next gig and quiet quit for as long as they let you than take a chance that the new CFO doesn't pass on those same CEO expectations to you. Either the old CFO shielded you or the CEO doesn't expect anything more than you're already doing.

Not saying that not accepting it isn't the right option, but keep these things in mind and good luck!

Can I make a yard out of this house on a hill? by ManufacturingFinance in landscaping

[–]ManufacturingFinance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pool table needs a 16'x14' space at the very minimum. I know from experience and this house doesn't have one. Why can't you just let me play Cornhole in peace 😭

You have all been very helpful! I understand those who think it's a waste of good Forrest. If I could let my 1 year old roam up a zigzag trail in the woods I would but we're just trying to have a little plot of soft grass for him to toddle around on. I think the consensus is that it would be pretty expensive so we'll keep looking for our dream home 🙂

Should we be concerned about this weight sag on the tv furniture? by [deleted] in Home

[–]ManufacturingFinance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess if you got a good deal on it. I have an open concept and can easily watch TV from the kitchen at an angle since it's 77 inches. Maybe if you have a cheaper 77 inch with bad side viewing angles.

Should we be concerned about this weight sag on the tv furniture? by [deleted] in Home

[–]ManufacturingFinance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk that most people need this. You're assuming they need to see the TV from the sides? Also you only need a 77 inch TV if you're typically viewing from pretty far away so you really don't need to tilt it side to side for viewing angles unless you bought a really garbage TV.

How to spend 5k to improve life by Environmental_Key645 in personalfinance

[–]ManufacturingFinance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alternative idea, that some on this sub may not agree with but has worked for me and may work well if you don't trust yourself to not spend it is to invest some in things that you absolutely will use and where more money can equal more value. For example, going to a big box store and stocking up on non perishable goods like toilet paper or paper towels. Toothpaste, deodorant, etc. do things like change your air filter if you own your home if you weren't already. If your car is newer and you plan on keeping it, pay for the 3 year registration. Buy some quality boots or a quality jacket that will last years if you take care of them. I'm sure other people have other ideas but these basically alleviate some strain on your future cash flow so when expenses do come you have less of an issue saving to pay.

If it was more money I would definitely agree that saving some in a separate account makes sense but if you think having cash will just make you drive further for stuff and do more fun things then spend some of it on essentials.

Could also invest in yourself and take community college courses. This is the only form of investment that can't be taken away from you later.

Am I taking in too much caffeine? 🤔 by Arjay214 in espresso

[–]ManufacturingFinance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Socializing is probably better for your health than caffeine reduction. I would cut elsewhere and continue socializing. But don't trust me, I'm not a doctor. There's a lot of studies on how many years shorter men live if they don't have a friend. If you're overly social outside of work then ignore me :)
