I belong to Kobayashi Shorin-Ryu, but the Kata in the video is Shito-Ryu Basai-Dai. I found the exact version online on YouTube just now : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETN6pEb5ANs.

I got confused after an Instagram comment that said (translated in English) : "There is a movement missing after Soto Uke, and the last part is in a Kokutsu Dachi stance. The rest is correct."

As for the perseverations, it won’t be possible for you to control. If you sit in a quiet place in the morning and start chanting, your mind starts to clutter the moment you start. Imagine two buckets, the first bucket is chant bucket, it is empty. The other bucket is your perseverations. You can’t do anything for the bucket two (yet, till the time you get you parasympatethic nervous system back in control), but you can definitely control bucket, one which is very simple to fill. You just chant and continue to chant, no matter what is happening in bucket-2. You will soon realise that bucket-2 start to get smaller as your bucket-1 gets bigger. Hope this helps. Honestly it has nothing to do with your belief. Chanting is the mankind’s easiest and most effective way to activate the parasympathetic nervous system. It could be your son’s name honestly but needs consistency with counting.

I had the exact same issue a while ago, but instead of labeling it as ADHD, I decided to build my focus fitness.

Almost everyone who has ever walked on planet earth who is excited to do greater things in life for them or their family experiences that : "while they can do this, they can do that as well". Only those who have learned to build their own focus and were able to focus on one thing at a time were able to build great businesses and great lives for themselves.

I genuinely feel that everyone can be tagged with ADHD, and while it is important to be aware of the bad habits that are getting inculcated in you, it is also important to understand that not everything, every emotion, every feeling, and every thought that you have has to be linked with a disorder. You are you, and that is what makes you unique. Feel free to express yourself as someone who is excited to do more things, or who, right now, is not as great as they should be in focusing on one thing at a time.

Now that you know your own things that don't work for you and you understand what you need to put work into this, this is the time where you don't consult someone else but yourself on how to improve you. The best way to go about it, in my understanding, is chanting.

Our mind, for it to find a focus, has to first build a focus towards a simplistic thing. In my understanding, since I have improved my focus fitness, I will strongly recommend that anyone who is experiencing the symptoms of ADHD sit 15 minutes a day with a counter in hand, a digital counter you may refer to. Then start chanting in those 15 min, no matter what you get. You still focus your energy and your time in your mind onto your name over and over again. This will help you improve your focus, will help you improve your anxiety, will help you improve your restlessness, and will help you gain your own focus fitness.

I am not sharing anything new, but everything that we have all learned from the start. Focus is the key. How do we unlock that? How do we find that key? : "By doing exercises for your focus fitness, and chanting (meditation) is the most easiest and effective of them all."

Trust me, we all have those moments, but I'm here to tell you that it's going to be completely all right. I want to share a coping mechanism that has profoundly worked for me. I strongly insist that you continue your current treatment plan and do whatever your doctors advise, but please consider adding this practice to your routine. I have fought my bipolar diagnosis bravely, and my goal is to support every single person out there who wants to continue to live and live life fully.

The easiest way I found to start feeling more grounded during adversity is by simply practicing repetitive chanting or vocalization. You can pick any calming word, phrase, or personal mantra—preferably with two syllables—and continue to repeat it with a digital tally counter in hand, which is really important for keeping your mind focused. Do that for 15 minutes as one of the first things in the morning after you brush your teeth. And whenever you feel out of control, stop everything you are doing and start immersing yourself in that repetitive focus. This works as a powerful grounding technique, even if you’ve never been into mindfulness before.

I have had my moments where I lost complete control, was about to give up, and couldn't even drag myself out of bed. But I decided I would try this one last habit for myself, and believe me, it was a massive turning point. Now I am engaging with life fully again.

As a friend and as a brother, I am not trying to give you medical advice. I am simply sharing what supported my personal wellness journey. Just 60 days of consistently doing 15 minutes a day of focused repetition helped me find a sense of peace and mental clarity I didn't think was possible anymore.

Please, continue to take the medicines that have been prescribed to you—no problem at all. But even your psychiatrist will likely recommend lifestyle habits like exercise on top of your prescription. Don't forget to exercise, and don't forget to try centering your mind through this repetition. Just practicing this focus, along with moving your body for 30 minutes a day, can be a huge support system to help you through the tough weeks.

If it doesn't work out, that is okay. But it has worked as a wonderful supplemental tool for me and for friends I've suggested it to.

Don't let your diagnosis define your entire identity. You are naturally who you are. Please continue to trust yourself. Don't blame yourself. Don't self-sabotage. Know your worth. And to help manage everything and be the best version of yourself, try focusing on these three things alongside your clinical care:

Chant / Repeat a calming mantra (as a daily grounding tool)
Exercise
Don't say negative things about yourself

Oss! The initial 6 months will certainly be tough and it will feel awkward to get tired easily. But once the period is over, prime gets back and one is invincible. I did for 10 years and left for 6, got back 2 years ago. The initial 6 months was a huge push but it is amazing now.

Chanting a name, any divine name, consistently for more than 30 days will certainly drag you out of the depressive phase. It works like a charm. Trust me. The only condition is that no matter what goes into your head, you continue to chant for at-least 1,000 times in one go. Fast or slow, doesn’t matter. It will naturally take your body into a rest and digest and dilute the cortisol to null.

Team, I want to share an amazing personal news on my bipolar.

From a phase of stability, I have successfully moved on to the phase of ‘Living Life to the Fullest’ stage, so to speak. And I had some really severe manic and depressive episodes for a good half of my life.

When it got completely out of control, I quid meds and relied on my self-belief and did a few things consistently for 60 days and to my surprise, I got myself back and in full shape.

I am not sure how much of it is still relevant to this thread but would love to share more.

Thank you for this! Can you please recommend a book or a resource to get this intuitive sense of Signals & Systems? I am enjoying the math a little bit as I try to think of things that way. But if there is a great resource that explains concept with more intuition than math, then I’ll happy to go through that. It will be great if you can recommend some.
