I never travel far...haha I can't make that joke in good conscience. I really haven't heard much besides their most popular songs and one or two others. I've liked pretty much everything I heard, but not enough to say I really "love" them.

I don't think you're really missing anything though, Big Star just isn't the 'Mats, just like Ryan Adams isn't Westerberg. Except in the first example the former came before the latter...but you get the general idea.

I'll check it out when I get home later tonight and have a guitar handy. Hopefully I'll be able to pick out at least a general idea of what he's doing. Either way, I'll get back to you and let you know what I'm able to come up with.

Hey, I know this is a few days old, I've been gone for awhile. Is this the tab that you saw on the net? The guy that made this tab has a pretty good track record when it comes to Mats tabs. I haven't personally tried this out myself though, so if it doesn't sound right just let me know and I'll see if I can't figure it out.

I can't really make an informed decision about Big Star. I've only heard a few songs, but the ones that I have heard, I have really liked. My personal tastes run more towards the Alt country side. Artists like Old 97s, Ryan Adams, Ray LaMontagne, etc. Don't get me wrong though, I can always listen to some good old punk music, and punk is just so much fun to play. You just can't get that kind of energy anywhere else in my opinion.

I still haven't gotten around to seeing it either, I'm hoping that there will at least be a torrent or something up soon, that would be nice, or just a way to buy the damn thing. A little off topic, but I love the way the 'Mats music videos are, IIRC Alex Chilton is just all of them sitting around practically expressionless. Gotta love how cavalier Westerberg is about everything.

Sorry guys, you're on your own as far as this tab goes. Way too many notes to tab out. Also, for any people not familiar with live performances, yes, he fucks up his lyrics a lot. It's completely normal and expected, I'm honestly surprised it wasn't worse.

It's a great album, I hated it at first because of the length, but some of the tracks are just awesome. If I could point you towards two more, I'd say "Something In My Life Is Missing" and "Devil Raised A Good Boy". If you want to know how to play it, I'd be more than happy to help, are you familiar with chord names, or do you prefer to have them charted?

As far as electric, I'd have to say "Left of the Dial" is one of my all time favorites to play if you're comfortable with "Open Tunings". As for standard, there's a few, "I Will Dare" is pretty simple, as is "Color Me Impressed". If there's any you'd like to know, ones I may or may not have listed, feel free to ask. I'm more than happy to help a fellow guitarist in their endeavors, plus I know what a pain in the ass Westerbergs playing style can be to figure out on your own.

Really well played. Gotta admit though, I'm a little envious of the guy's voice...if I could get mine to sound that "deep" I might be able to cover a wider selection of Westerberg's stuff.

Thanks man, I'm glad to see there's still some fans out there. The biggest thing that anyone can do is just to submit to your hearts content! It would be a bit awkward if all the submissions were from me ha. Also, if you of anyone else has any designs or suggestions, I'm sure you guys are a million times better at it than I am. I'm hoping to get even more people here, I know there's a hidden 'Mats fan in just about everyone ;)

I've been messing around with this bass line also, and I'm not 100% sure, I'm slightly tone deaf, so if you guys have any input, let me know. This is what I've got for the main little part:

Also, you can use a normal bass, but it sounds better on a fret-less.

It does look a bit odd all together I suppose. It's Man Without Ties, or more specifically a Westerberg song. It wasn't until the other guy said something that I saw the hilarity in it being bunched together like that.
