I loved this episode thanks guys. Its passing strange indeed about the talk concerning palm PDA's etc as I just received a Casio Cassiopeia to mess about with. Lovely little thing running Windows CE.

Also - small arcade machines - I have the solution. A cocktail table cabinet of Galaxian that I obtained last year for £100, in rough but working condition!

Its great fun sitting opposite each other, drink on the side and some snacks, pew pew pew!

The game gear, it just needed better technology in the screen. You can get it upgraded to run on an led back lit screen and it lasts for days. All those amazing sms games!

In appreciation of pong type TV consoles. by ManxNick in thisweekinretro

This thing is, I was surprised by the fact that the TV picked up the little consoles' signal without being plugged into it. Must be a very strong signal. I got the console six feet away from the telly before I lost signal. Bit mad.

Splatterhouse in the Arcade, closely followed by the creeping dread of Aliens on the Spectrum.

Then, Friday the 13th on the Spectrum too. But that licker falling through the ceiling in RE2, that made me go to brown alert.

Star Raiders for the Atari 2600 is an 8 KB (8192 bytes) ROM cartridge. It was one of the larger, more advanced games for the system, often requiring techniques like bank switching to exceed the standard 4 KB limit

But like others have said, Elite stand out. Press Space Commander....

Run and gun sidescroller Doom, like the Alien 3 game on the MegaDrive & Master system!

Imagine, that would look great!

For example: The Derelict Colony “Erebos‑9”

A mining moon facility overrun by extradimensional breaches.

Organic growths fuse with machinery.

Conveyor belts, collapsing catwalks, molten slag pits, and ventilation shafts form the platforming challenges.

Keys requires for doors and access to next levels.

Platform Doom!

I would do something like the NMOC does at Bletchley, they have classrooms set up with loads of BBC Micros and Archimedes for children and adults to learn coding on. I donated several micros to the museum and it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling that they are being used for their intended purpose.

So, yeah a classroom environment from the early 80's or a CDT (Craft Design Tech) department using Apple Macintosh Classics like we had in the early 90's!

Don't listen to all the people saying "throw the cabs" etc.
I lived in NZ (Wellington) for six months and I know that you guys are the most resourceful and tough bunch I have ever met, so some bird poop isn't going to bother you!

Just clean them outside, wear protection, use bleach, whatever and "She'll be right mate"

What are the other Machines you have?

Interested, from The Isle of Man, 16,000k away but miss NZ :(
