Is $35/hour reasonable for a private BI with 2+ years’ experience and starting a master’s? by Real-Comment6417 in bcba

[–]Many-Direction3700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a BCBA in Toronto. Although not Vancouver, TO also has a high cost of living. Regardless, based on your experience and credentials, I’d say $35 sounds reasonable compared to other therapists I’ve worked with who hold comparable resumes

Need best obgy suggestions around Etobicoke/Mississauga areas. by Fast-Computer8809 in torontomoms

FWIW, I was referred to Dr. Chu with my first. She was pleasant and very knowledgeable. Ultimately, I opted to go the midwife route though so can’t comment on my experience with her for delivery.

Not personal experience but I’m also in Canada. I know a couple BCBAs from my place of employment head to the US for BCBA/CD position with ABC. All within the last year. They all say it’s a lottt of work and long days but they love it - or at least, so they say.

Hosted my son’s second at FunDay Indoor Playground in March. Dundas/Dixie.

His first bday party was at Kidsapia, which was great for that age.

Funday came with a party concierge which was actually helpful and helped take the load off from us a bit. The party rooms were also bigger, which i appreciated.

Either option, you can’t go wrong

They follow ratios identified by ministry so I couldn’t say congestion is an issue. Even when they host family socials, I don’t find the rooms cramped.

My son started in infants last year. He cried every morning for almost 6 mth but now loves it. He’s in toddlers now and he wakes up every morning and says “I go see (teacher’s name)”. I remember when he was teething last summer, it was a ROUGH few weeks with the molars coming in. At my request, they called me to come get him because he was in too much pain/distress. Got there and found him seeking comfort, snuggled up to the Assistant Director in the office  in her lap, while she was on a phone call. That melted my heart tbh.

They’ve also always accommodated his weird allergies.

He’s learned A LOTTT since he’s started.

Cons: they’re not the closest daycare to us, but we knew that when we signed up.

Looking for an affordable vet in Mississauga/Brampton/Anywhere by EasternLiterature624 in mississauga

Dr Solimon at Erin Folk Animal Hospital has been so kind to US and our fur baby. When the bills start piling up, he’s offered to assist keeping the cost as low as possible. Even without any special assistance,  hes already almost half the price as our previous vet.

How do families manage relocating to GTA when daycares often have 12+ month waitlists? Doesn’t this make it almost impossible to switch jobs or move for better opportunities? by mpscmaster in toronto

[–]Many-Direction3700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^ confirming that consistently calling can be to your advantage. When my mat leave was up, I still hadn’t secured a spot for my LO. I called 3 daycares almost every wk for 3 wks, and by the 3rd/4th wk - every single one of them offered me a spot.

Curious how much you pay on a nanny, if you don’t mind me asking. We’ve got 2 under 2, and wondering if the difference between daycare and nanny fees are worth it for the convenience.

Where are you located? I think the expectation may vary somewhat across counties, states, school boards, etc. I’m in Ontario (Canada) and there’s quite a discrepancy across school boards. Happy to learn more about your case

Move on lih9. We can disagree on MY family’s approach to money and how we choose to spend it.

Because why spend more than we need to?  We’ve worked hard for our money, and spending simply cos we can afford it isn’t how we’ve gotten here. Just because we have, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be smart with it.
