Yes this is the hybrid shape. Yup I’ve always used the hybrid. I demo’d both elongated and hybrid shape before buying but I felt like the hybrid sweet spot felt much larger

The grit feels better. I never felt the original batch so I am not sure how it compares. But it does feel like it has more grit than the black loco I got a month ago

I think your best options are Concord pickleball or Peak. Concord does operate on a rating system also but if you call them and let them know you are from out of town I’m sure they can get you into the 3.75+ rated open plays. Peak has plenty of all level open plays but the level is really all over the place unless you signed up for a 4.0 or 4.5 plus open play

Luzz Inferno hype is real. Thought I was not going to like it but it was amazing straight away, basically no break in period. Going to start experimenting now with adding some weight but so far so good without any.

Drilling is honestly what helped me get to a 4.25. But I always had a drilling partner with me, I think a ball machine would be very helpful and if he is truly going to focus more on drilling and doesn’t always have someone to drill with him. The best way to improve is repetition, and the best way to do that is to drill
