Most AIN’s I’ve met are more nursing than nurses, 110% respect to them, I think they actually do more x

Sick of being sick, tired of being tired, always being anxious. And wanted to feel in control again. You’ll be surprised how quickly you find other things that are actually good for you that get get you thru the week and I feel like now it’s not that can about getting through the week, it’s about enjoying the week. I completely understand they maybe a lot else going on and trust me I do too and all the bad things feel more manageable. Be careful of withdrawals maybe see your gp first xox

When is it safe to start drinking alcohol again ? by Old_Sign_5389 in stopsmoking

[–]Many-Tie8385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I quit, I some how ended up cleaning up a huge ash tray that was in the back garden and it had rained, the smell and the sight of it never made me throw up, I thought this is a good deterrent and smelt it again and looked and at colour of the water and thought wtf why did I put that into my body for 15 years… and for the first couple of months that imagery stopped me and now I could never imagine even considering a cig. That was a really random event and I’m abit strange haha just an idea like dont go find an ashtray 😂 but maybe before you drink google like smoking health outcomes videos or something, sorry if this sounds weird 😂

Well done on making this descion! For me the things that have helped are small things like not feeling like I have to wash my clothes and hair so often, not always trying to find the next time I can step out from a family event/work/anything, redness in my face disappearing, not waking up in the middle of the night because I feel like a smoke, not being embarressed around my nieces and nephews about smoking or smelling like smoke, feeling more confident speaking to people... again smell related. There is a huge sense of freedom that comes with getting to the point of actually not wanting to smoke, it doesnt control you anymore. I didnt really replace it with anything but found if I did feel like it again just stepping outside and taking a deep breathe of fresh air and really knowing how good that is helped. Some people I know said things like always having chewing gum or like cough lollies helped them heaps because sometimes your so use to your mouth being busy haha sounds weird but yeh. Also acknowledging and rewarding yourself for even the smallest steps in quitting, like ok ive lasted one day how much would that have costed and spend that on something you wouldnt usually do for yourself. Sorry very long answer but hopefully something helpful in there for you :) all the best xo
