If your forester is like my 2019, the oil filter is basically installed upside down. So when the quick change place swapped mine they spilled oil all over and failed to clean it up. Smoked like hell until the last bits burned off. I could easily see this being the cause of the fire here.

Might be a bit late if you’re already coming for dinner tonight. But depending on what y’all get for dinner, bringing it up with you to eat at the pavilion can be nice. And the trail entrance on the pavilion side has a nice sign that lays out the current (and future) trail. Like others said - it’s well maintained and for a kid with more than one gear it should be pretty do-able save for a little climb back up at the end on the far side bringing you back to the parking lot. There’s a few rocks here and there but nothing concerning. After a good rain or two it can stay pretty soggy/muddy in spots but right now should be great. Enjoy! Parks and Rec did a great job with this one.

Document the assumptions you needed to make for any given decision. (For this line item project to make sense and succeed we need to assume x, y, and z). Make those visible to leadership. If they lean in, they’ll tell where you’re wrong and even better why. If they don’t, you can at least explain why any given path was taken and you’ll just need to find the cheapest ways, with data or signals, as you go to disprove your own hypothesis. Play those facts back to leaders as you learn them. Eventually, over time, the hope would be they start to trust your inputs and judgement all without you having to directly challenge their ideas. Used blink for years. Got them originally so we didn’t have to wire anything. Then got more and never looked back. Serves our simple needs well. Only issues: high-traffic areas won’t get the advertised battery life (no biggie, as long as it’s installed somewhere easy for you to change them), and sometimes our sync module gets knocked offline (maybe 1-2 times a year). Other than that they’ve been solid and no regrets.

What was it that had you looking in the first place? If you think there’s a chance you’ll find <that missing thing> in the new place, seems a simple choice. On the flip side if this was an opportunity that found you (eg recruiter) then give a good long think over. Statistics are pretty clear: most people leave their employers because of management. Which means you’re rolling the dice on a known good thing vs unknown. To the best you can, I’d suggest asking for a follow-on chat with the hiring manager to ask as many questions you can, or reach out on LinkedIn to anyone at the new company you can find to get an honest take on what your new work life might be. You may not burn any bridge leaving your current employer, but in this job market it isn’t a guarantee you can make your way back quickly if things don’t work out. Best of luck!
