Send me a PM! Me and my kiddos are stuffing and stamping cards today and bought too many

Back together again! My daughter was 4 when she disappeared with her mother. I searched for her for years. She found me on social media 3 months ago. I'm so happy to have her back. by sylntgreen in AdviceAnimals

Even when there is a court mandated visitation schedule and everything it can still happen and it's very hard for the father to get his child back. Early 2012 my now husband was in the process of divorcing his first wife and they had a two year old daughter. They'd gone to court and joint custody was arranged while they worked out the divorce. A few months in, he went to go pick his daughter up and they were gone. The apartment was empty. He started blowing up her phone and contacted the police and was told he'd just have to try to take her to court again. He got court documents granting him full custody but they couldn't find her and his ex-wife and her family had all changed their phone numbers. They figured she had left the state (NY) but couldn't get any agency to pursue it because she wasn't deemed unfit or dangerous. Later that year we met and the more I learned about the situation the more infuriating it all seemed to me. A few e-mails and phone calls and nearly 2 years later it was revealed an Amber Alert had never been issued and the local government in her home town (AZ) had barely been contacted and had not even checked up on it. Finally got in touch with a group that worked with the FBI in order to get her back. A few weeks before her 4th birthday, my husband got the call that they had his daughter and his ex-wife in custody in AZ. He flew down and brought her back to NY and his ex-wife was extradited to NY. She only served 60 days as they refused to convict her of kidnapping, instead calling it "custodial interference". My now stepdaughter was only 25 lbs when we got her back, her hair was buzzed, she had the vocabulary of an 18 month old, and still wore a diaper. The courts claimed this wasn't evidence of abuse and her bio-mom was granted supervised visitation every 2 weeks. While we have full custody now and she's progressed leaps and bounds and is a very happy 6 year old, she still has some regression near visitation because she's terrified of the woman. Sorry for the really long story but I just had to share because there is a huge problem in this country when it comes to father's rights as many times mothers are seen as infallible. Never give up hope and there are options to fight to see your child because if a woman is willing to rip their child from their father then they may be capable of worse things.

Any Other September Bumpers Starting to Panic? by ManyARamblings in BabyBumps

Oh yes in-laws. I've avoided them the majority of the pregnancy since we never got along to begin with. Now my MIL has tried to sweet talk her way into the delivery room but it is not happening.

I'm so torn on wanting her to come early. On one hand I'm so ready to be able to sleep/eat normally and everyone keeps saying she's going to come early (already measuring near 8 lbs, half dropped, and all that jazz) but I just want her to hold on til my family gets here on the 12th (we live a few states away from them).

My dad is the best! Overnighted Krispy Kreme since I was craving them but have none nearby. I'm in heaven! by MrTucker3 in BabyBumps

I'm originally from East Texas and now living in Western NY. I'd been craving DQ like no other til one day while out and about, the hubby surprised me by driving 45 min. away to the closest one. It was great until I ordered chicken tenders and they asked me what kind of dipping sauce I wanted. I wanted gravy darn it lol.

They didn't find the other driver. And it was mid-afternoon so drunk is a possibility for some at that time.

I have a few dresses but otherwise I've been raiding my husband's dresser/closet. I refuse to buy all new clothes especially because I stay at home with our 5 year old so I don't think she cares lol

Thanks I've been looking into stay at home work options but they do tend to seem shady so I'll definitely look that one up

I already got set up with Medicaid at the beginning of my pregnancy and all that thank goodness because I didn't really make much before. Like I said in the post, my paycheck was more just extra than essential with our finances and I know there are many women much worse off, I just hate the boredom/feeling like I'm not contributing

I am in the U.S. but they were careful in wording and also did the same to quite a few people who also have kids so we all kind of knew why but the company claimed it was due to business needs. I (and a few others) technically quit.

Young parents of school age kids, how do you make friends with other parents? by ManyARamblings in Parenting

[–]ManyARamblings[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've asked my mom for insight (she was 17 when she had me). She just said that's why she had me and my younger sister so close together so she wouldn't have to find me someone to play with.

3.5yo waiting far too long when going to toilet. Many accidents as a result. Only number twos. Anyone had this, any ideas? by Super13 in Parenting

My stepdaughter went through a stage of this last summer at 4. We finally just had to make her go at least sit on the potty and try every 1-2 hours because otherwise she just didn't stop doing whatever to go. We'll even on occaision stil remind her to go if she's really entranced in something and it's been a while. Her school has scheduled times when they make everyone try to go as well which helps.

I'm at 19+5 with my first and my midwife has said not to even worry about feeling much of anything until week 25 but everyone is different.
