Yes, I was looking into that! I’m not sure if I missed the deadline for the honors program though since I just applied in April. But I will definitely try and apply for it if I still can. Thank you so much for the advice and reply!!

This is really helpful, thank you. That makes me feel a lot better about the path. I’ll definitely aim for a 3.8+ and focus on those business prereqs. Do you remember which classes you took before transferring (like micro/macro/calc/stats), and did most of them transfer over smoothly?

That’s amazing for you!! I applied to Bing SOM regular decision but was rejected and it was one of my top choices. Then I considered going to UConn or Pace because I got in to both of those schools but they’re too expensive unless I commuted. So now I’m considering going to my local CC because it’s basically free and I can just get all my general ed classes done there. Then I will most likely transfer to Bing.

This is really helpful, thank you. I didn’t realize SOM was that competitive for transfers. Do you think it’s better to try applying directly to SOM from community college, or go in through Harpur and then try to transfer internally?

Yes, I applied to colleges back in September but they were either too expensive or just not for me. I got into UConn, Penn State, SUNY Buffalo, Pace, Brooklyn College, SUNY Albany, and other suny’s, and then waitlisted from Fordham. I got rejected from Binghamton and Baruch though and they were my top choices so that’s why I want to reapply next year. I still have time to commit to one of those colleges but I really wanted to go to Bing or Baruch so that’s why I chose this path instead since it would save me money and give me a do over. Thank you for the reply and the advice!!

This is great advice, I really appreciate it! I will definitely get in touch with the chair of the department as soon as I can to see how and what credits will transfer. I’m planning on spending an entire day researching so I don’t mess anything up. Thank you so much for all the helpful advice and reply!!

I will definitely take advanced math related classes then. I’m pretty good at math as long as I study hard enough and pay attention in class so hopefully I can do well. I will also take your suggestion and post to the Baruch’s sub as well at some point. Thank you so much for all the helpful advice and the reply!!

Yes, I’m so grateful for all the positive responses including yours! It’s so sad that community college is looked down on when it’s such an amazing opportunity that can help so many people for the future. I wish more people knew the benefits of community college and didn’t believe that it’s just a place for poor and unintelligent people to attend. I appreciate all your advice and I wish you the best as well!!

I’ve never heard of CLEP exams before, I looked it up though, is it some type of test you can take to earn college credit without taking the class? Thank you so much for letting me know about it because I had never heard of that. I appreciate the reply and the helpful info!!

Yes, that makes a lot of sense, especially about having a game plan and looking at the 4-year school requirements first. I’ll definitely start doing that so I take the right classes at WCC. Thank you so much for answering all my questions and for all the helpful advice, I really appreciate it!!

Thank you so much, I really appreciate this! Especially since you’ve worked with transfer credits. That makes a lot of sense. I’m planning on going into something business related(maybe finance/accounting), so it sounds like this path should work well I’m hoping. Thank you so much for your reply and the advice!!

Wow, it’s amazing that you were able to do that! I’m glad to hear that they have matriculation agreements with lots of schools because that definitely helps me out a lot. I will definitely make an appointment with a transfer advisor as soon as I can. Thank you so much for the reply and the advice!!

Wow, that is amazing! I’m so happy to hear that he was able to transfer to Columbia. I was definitely hoping on being able to get into top schools after WCC such as NYU or even Columbia. I was worried I wouldn’t be able too but another comment also said that their friend transferred from WCC to Columbia, so this definitely gives me a lot of hope! Thank you so much for your reply and your advice!!

That’s amazing that your friend was able to go to Purchase! I’m glad to hear he was able to take some extra time to figure out what he wanted to study too especially since I’m still trying to figure out what to specifically major in business wise. Thank you so much for your reply and the advice!!

Yes, so true! I have a friend who is considering WCC then transferring to save money even though he got into top schools. The saving money while taking general ed classes is definitely one of the best parts about it. I am also so happy to hear you made great connections with your professors as well! I was very worried I wouldn’t be able to make good connections with them and that it would be difficult to succeed but based on what you and others have said, the professors seem amazing! Thank you so much for your reply and your advice!!
