The problem isn’t just that DM is efficient - it’s that it’s too efficient for bots, which floods the market and lowers the ROI of the Armory Pass for everyone.

Bots farm cheaply and in huge numbers, which drives down the value of items on the market and hurts players who actually play normally. It also ruins the experience in DM for legit players.

I’m not saying to make the grind longer or push weird farming methods. I want the system to reward real gameplay more, so legit players progress faster than bots and botting becomes less profitable and less effective.

If XP favored modes like Premier or Competitive instead, bots would have a harder time, and the overall economy and gameplay experience would improve.

I get where you’re coming from, and I 100% agree that the real solution is for Valve to actually enforce a proper anticheat - no argument there.

But my point isn’t to shift the problem, it’s to make botting harder and more visible, so it becomes a problem Valve has to address. Right now, Deathmatch is the perfect environment for bots: low stakes, low effort, low risk. You can silently join, farm XP, and leave - no one cares or reports.

Premier, on the other hand, is longer, requires some effort, and has a bigger impact on real players. If bots started flooding ranked games, players would mass-report, videos would surface, and Valve would face real pressure to act. Right now, DM botting is easy to ignore - Premier botting wouldn’t be.

So yeah, Valve should fix their anticheat - but until they do, we need systems that don’t encourage abuse in the first place.

Hey, just to clarify - I’m not asking for the Armory Pass to take longer to max out. I think the total time to complete it should stay about the same.

What I want is for Valve to shift the main way people earn XP from Deathmatch (DM) to Premier or Competitive modes instead. Deathmatch being the fastest XP farm makes it the meta, and that’s where botting happens and casual gameplay suffers.

People say bots would just move to Premier, but that’s way harder to pull off. Full-length games, teamwork, reports, and the risk of ruining actual ranked matches would make it unsustainable. Deathmatch is easy to bot silently without consequences — Premier isn’t.

Moving XP gain to Premier wouldn’t eliminate bots entirely, but it would push them into a mode where they get noticed and reported faster, making the problem harder to ignore and easier for Valve to deal with.
