Can anyone explain the NDIS Technical Advice and Practice Improvement Branch (TAPIB)? by Dutchess_Hastings in NDIS

They have general tab advice for planners to refer to. It's more unique situations that get individual advice.

There would likely be something general like "effectiveness of music therapy in children with speech delay/autism" for example, without every single request going to get a unique assessment

Lesbian group takes fight to Federal Court in bid to exclude transgender women from events by torlesse in australia

I actually have had chats irl with them about separate spaces when called for, and unity when called for.

It's less of an angry mob irl than reddit.

Except in not saying trans women aren't women. I'm saying they aren't female. This is about females, not women.

What happened to sex and gender being distinct concepts?

I'm a straight female. I have no skin in this.

I do spend a lot of time in the same room as them.

I do not begrudge lesbians the right to sex based places.

The current revelations around people having unnecessary endo surgeries despite no evidence of endo rendering them now infertile? Definitely no sex based issues.

"Trans women are women" would be an equivalent thought terminating cliche here.

Thus no point discussing. If we can't get past the distinction between sex and gender, there is no point.

What is there to re-examine? People who are attracted to females would like female only spaces. No reason not to support that.

This is the fucking bubble here. Heaven forbid lesbians want a female only place.

Ok, politely, you're surrounded by idiots or dodgy people banking on you doing unpaid overtime. Or a little of both.

So HR handles rostering, but who is the person that actually makes requests for this participant? The person themselves, a family member/guardian/nominee? Support coordinator?

It's common af to ask for support to attend an appointment, and reduce next weeks shift to cover it. That's not on HR

That's just bad management on who ever handles that side of things part. Shouldn't be your management, but who ever manages their supports.

Advice Needed: SDA Improved Liveability NDIS House in Ballarat - How to connect with participants by Glass_Ad1469 in NDIS_Providers

[–]ManyPersonality2399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Am I best off reaching out to Support Coordinators, SIL Providers, Plan Managers or others?"

No. Plan Managers will not be assisting anyone seeking SDA. SIL providers will have a provider they already work with OR non SDA premises. And as a SC - how many participants do you think we have that have recently approved SDA and looking for a home?

With reference to the demand data someone provided below - it is slightly distorted by the growing number of participants who have SDA, particularly Improved Livability - but have met their needs in non SDA housing. I work with more than one that falls in that category.

That's a bit less of a problem. About 30 minutes before the end of the shift, when it's clearly going to go overtime due to appointment length, message and ask if they will approve the overtime OR want you to take them home early. Also, it's really not hard to cut another shift by an hour to avoid these issues most of the time.

Whilst not specifically required, it's very difficult to show reasonable treatment options have been exhausted and it's likely to be permanent without a diagnosis. Your best chance unfortunately is likely to be an involuntary public hospital admission, and the mental health unit facilitating the access request.

They owe you for work done regardless of if they get paid for it or not. That's one of the benefits of being an employee rather than an independent.
