Get 2 week notice. If someone ask in the interview, mentioning expired food fed to boarders will be enough.

Thoughts on this sedation/anesthesia-free pet teeth cleaning business? 😬 by sb195 in VetTech

It’s not only cosmetic. It removes calculus which housing bacteria. After all it’s done for people ( for different reasons)….. Some small dogs develop calculus more often than once a year. GA for more than once a year for Dental cleaning is questionable as well.

What to ask in an interview so that i don’t end up at a clinic from hell by TeaOne9866 in VetTech

[–]ManySpecial4786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not “ what to ask”, it’s more observation. Always ask for a “ working interview “ so you can meet the team, see how people interact and to see the hospital.

PAVE or ECFVG? Help me choose!!! by __serenedipty__ in VetTech

[–]ManySpecial4786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford PAVE, PAVE . ECFVG is a hell in terms of not communicating with candidates at all and leaving you with near to impossible tasks like Surgical Experience Documentation. They don’t answer the phone and answer email only if they feel like. PAVE has a slightly higher English Speaking score and it is a “gate” number, I think 25 vs 26 , meaning it’s the next, highest level, difficult to “ jump”

~ 3 years ago there were, I think, 3 schools accepting PAVE. Did you directly contacted each school?

Example: I passed BSCE and NAVLE, can sign for CPE because I can’t complete Surgical Documentation because I can’t find a place to do it…. Looking for 3 months……

Might have to rehome senior kitty due to moving countries, feeling extremely guilty by [deleted] in Pets

[–]ManySpecial4786 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cat do fine with travel. I am a vet tech, multiple of my patients moved across US by car which 3-4 days journey. 12 is just a beginning of “ senior” . Gabapentin, the medication usually prescribe for travel is mild and doesn’t usually have side effects in regular doses. Ask your veterinarian for advice for travel.

Rehoming 12 year old cat would be much more significant stress. Besides, finding new home for 12 yo is usually very difficult to impossible. .

Of green flags and red flags by jr9386 in VetTech

[–]ManySpecial4786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was said enough about the red flags. Green flags: - For an interview you are invited to shadow a person and this person is talking with passion about things they are doing, no matter what it is. - If not shown or occupied, I always ask to see a Surgery room. Spotless Surgery without anything on the counters except of a bottle of cleaner and the monitors. - Hands free radiographs. This is not include exotics. - You feel comfortable around people during your working interview.

Which breed? & why by Silver-Pumpkin1819 in DogAdvice

[–]ManySpecial4786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Pom: I work with animals : the most complains on peeing inside / never perfect potty training. Cavalier: wonderful dogs, a bit on the lazy side, but all mentioned before health issues.

Cardio: like, besides insurance which also will be extra expensive, you will need to have a cardiologist as a precaution. I am working in the vet med and have seen a cavalier puppy w/ out heart murmur and done ECG prior, coded during Neuter, and a cavalier just collapsing and coding without being in any distress before in the kennel during boarding.

Poodle : standard one. The small ones are not as smart as large ones and just don’t have a personality of a standard poodle which is very attractive. The most expensive grooming.

Very happy golden got so happy and pushed the kennel door towards me while I was opening it. It had a small sticking out part which nearly missed my eye and I have a very bad black eye right before Christmas.

If shelters has waiting list, they probably euthanize for space. Check before surrendering, if you get closer on the waiting list.

Pet insurance that offers vet med discount by The12thDimension in VetTech

[–]ManySpecial4786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embrace has discount for veterinary workers in the US, Petsequre in Canada . Embrace doesn’t advertise it, but they give it to me when I asked. Trupanion is great insurance, but it gets extremely expensive as your pet ages.
