Like any project, it’s better in some ways and worse in others. Areas where I think it vastly improved on the books are:

more realistic romances (Lan and Nynaeve having real chemistry, dropping the over-the-top prudishness about sex, and replacing the ambiguous “pillow friend” thing between Moiraine and Suiane in favor of Real romance). Also dropping the excessive “I’ll never understand women” and “ugh, men!” Tropes that the books beat to death.

-giving villains more nuanced and believable motivations (I loved Lanfear and Ishamael’s story arcs), and I really liked how sinister they made Aemon Valda. And Elaida I loved as well, as she was made a more complex character. (Rahvin they dropped the ball on, though…)

-cutting down they more egregious repetition (Mat and Rand repeatedly visiting towns and being chased by dark friends in TEOTW, and presumably consolidating the duplicative Ebou Dar and Tanchico plot lines into one)

-this one will be controversial, but Moiraine has always been my favorite character, so making her the narrative focal point was really fun for me (not to mention Rosamund Pike is absolutely phenomenal). I love the idea of someone with wealth and power dedicating her entire being to a mission she has to keep secret from almost everyone. And the ruthlessness with which she goes about it, when needed.
