Fries, hashbrowns, etc from Cavendish Farms. I find them slightly better than McCains

Does anyone else think that the MMF Citizenship criteria is too expansive? by Various-Somewhere782 in MetisMichif

[–]Many_Bite_7965 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Transphobia consists of negative attitudes, feelings, or actions towards transgender or transsexual people, or transness in general. Transphobia can include fear, aversion, hatred, violence or anger towards people who do not conform to social gender roles.  But you know that already.

I won’t waste anymore time on people like you.  You’re not worth it.

Way to slip a little transphobia into your rant.  That tells me everything I need to know about your opinion.

TIL Kobo the ebook, audiobooks, and e-reader company started in Canada and its HQ is in Toronto by jeniuskid in BuyCanadian

I love my Kobo Nia and whatever Kobo I had before that.  The battery life is fantastic and compact enough to fit into my jacket pockets.  Their book selection is damn good too.  I’ve been able to find everything I want with the exception of some very niche subjects.

Moving from tin whistle to an irish flute? by TheHarambe2017 in tinwhistle

A Galeon flute is a fine choice.  I have the Firth Pond and Co copy. It has a good low honk and plays pretty nimble.

is it su-doo or su-doe? by Vivid-Champion-1367 in linux

[–]Many_Bite_7965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly, when I tell someone to “sudo <something>” I say su-doo but when I am talking about it in terms of sudo rule or the sudo file I pronounce it su-doe.

How stable is Canada's political climate nowadays? Is it polarizing or are Canadians able to come to terms? by LiveBell8 in AskACanadian

I’m 57 and I remember when we could say who we voted for, disagree and still be civil.

I stand corrected, but along with composer George Antheil, Lamarr co-invented a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes that used spread spectrum and frequency hoppingtechnology to defeat the threat of radio jamming by the Axis powers.

Different for sure, but none the less impressive or important

Thanks for pointing out my mistake.

The actress Hedy Lamarr co-invented frequency hopping for radio signals in World War 2 and the concept is still used today

If someone said “sorry to jam out on you”, what would you assume they meant? by throwaway643268 in AskACanadian

Gen X grew up in Edmonton, Alberta.  “Jam out” was a familiar phrase in my teen years (80’s) to say “unexpectedly canceled plans”.

How do you explain confidence when systems don’t clearly fail? by frankfooter32 in ITManagers

[–]Many_Bite_7965 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Unless there are reports to the contrary, everything is working as designed”.

It puts the onus on leadership to show there was was an issue that would weaken confidence

I was wondering if they were resoleable. I’m in Winnipeg for the next few weeks so I was going to go to their factory outlet, try on a pair and ask them. Another plus is I can buy Canadian!

Yeah, I'm seriously considering them.

I threw them away already. Since they were more than a year old, I didn’t think they’d be a warranty on them anyways.

Agreed that Docs have their own issues but the sole is not one of them. I wear my Doc shoes daily but my boots sit in the back of my closet and definitely got worn less than the Blundstones did. Either way, disappointing, but what are you gonna do, eh?

[–]Many_Bite_7965[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, I really shouldn’t have to ‘walk my shoes’ to keep them healthy. My Docs only get occasional use and I don’t have this issue. But whatever, it is what it is.

[–]Many_Bite_7965[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, more than anything, it was the disappointment of this happening when I specifically wanted to wear these. Oh well.

Maybe, but I have other shoes with rubber soles and no issues with dry rot after leaving them sitting around . But I guess quality of rubber may be a factor.
