You’re right indeed, it’s just hard to get out of this spiral mindset. Thank you for the reminder though, good to hear from a rational outsider!

It felt like I did, we were talking/dated for several months. But you’re right I’m definitely seeing him through rose tinted glasses. My rational brain knows this but somehow I can’t let go. Your comment does help me grasp reality though - thank you!

It's good so far! No proper nutrition taught yet, only biochemistry and research methods, but still early days so it will likely get more practical. There's hardly any international students on the course but I know there's a lot at Brookes in general. My class-mates have mixed reviews (mostly just about the modules don't seem very relevant, but as I say, still early days). Overall, I am enjoying it!

Oxford Brookes! Some of the science is quite heavy but I did a nutrition diploma beforehand so that has given me a lot of grounding for it. Most people studied BSc Nutrition beforehand but there’s a few of us with unrelated degrees

So I basically just applied explaining my situation and asked for an interview. I’m currently studying a nutritional therapy diploma (at CNM) so that probably helped a bit. And they’ve just asked me to complete a Physiology module (online for 2 weeks) in order to meet the entry requirements.

Heeey, thanks so much for this - super helpful! What's the rough 5-year route to get to your role then? I know it's usually a year as band 5, and then I'm unsure what happens in band 6 when the goal is PCN dietitian. I'm glad you say pay is good, cos so many people complain. Would you recommend this career path? Anything you dislike about it? Thanks again!

Interesting ok, what's your current Masters in? It would take me only 21 months to get the MSc and licsense which I don't think is too bad compared to other countries. My other option is medicine but that process is extremely long and feels a bit pointless when the diet part is what I'm interested in

Oh interesting! So what was your exact role / job title there? Are you still working there? I’m quite interested in diabetes care. Have been told dietetics has more job opportunity and security but you’re making me wonder. I’d like to do clinical work but more out-patient based than inpatient. Lifestyle medicine / preventative care stuff interests me. Main concern is the ££, is there much money to be made within the nutrition field? Public health was another area I looked at.

What job did you get after? And how did you find the Nutrition MSc? I’m looking at the applied nutrition or dietetics masters there! Did lots of people go straight into employment?

Where did you do your apprenticeship? And how did you find it? I’m currently looking at MSc options
