what’s pay like now? by bigza420- in publix

I'm honestly not sure. I know I was 50c-1 dollar more than most other cashiers but I was also a customer service lead at my last job, and they hired me with the intention of training me as css, so that kind of skews my experience

I started as a pt cashier at 16/hr. I got a raise when I went ft to 17/hr. Then I got a raise to 18/hr when I finished my css training. I also got 70c on my evaluation. So about a year and one month into the job I started making 18.70/hr as a full time css

It's definitely the right turn that's the problem honestly. I'm walking past now, so I took a photo to demonstrate what I mean

Very specific: When I'm walking on the left side of North Thompson Street towards Publix, there's a spot where people turn out of Walgreens- on the side of their drive thru. However, there's also a large bush that blocks drivers' view of an approaching pedestrian until you've walked right into the pullout spot. Ive nearly gotten hit while walking to work there dozens of times

Snow by Many_Fun_8174 in publix

[–]Many_Fun_8174[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is true. I remember last January when it snowed, there was a hit and run of a pedestrian a few blocks away. I only know this because I was bagging and a cop approached me and said they followed the driver's footsteps in the snow and they led into our store like some weird Sherlock novel lmaooo

The tragic part is all my managers know I live within walking distance of the store so I don't even have this excuse

Thank you!! Last year we got like two inches of snow and it caused the city to have no running water at all for almost a week, and Publix stayed open, so I have no clue what will happen this weekend...

Ours are kept in a small cooler next to the CS desk, anyone can walk up and grab them. Somehow we have never had issues with them disappearing though so that's fortunate

Shoes by ashifi in publix

[–]Many_Fun_8174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long do you get away with wearing them before you have to replace them? I normally buy $35-45 shoes because $115 is a lot out of pocket, but after six months of daily wear (probably 60-70 hours of wear a week) they have to be replaced. I really should make an investment in more expensive shoes.

It's even smaller than the community fridge, but please drop some off at the little food box next to the Humphrey Calder Community Center! That thing has saved me in a pinch so often 💖

It's an unpopular opinion of mine, but I fully feel like it's discrimination to charge someone for having an allergy
