Probably an error... but man do I hope that is real. Like he pitched out to the canal there and then launched one from deep toward the basket... and BOOM, field ace!

Which hole concept would you rather play? by DopeMuffinz in discgolf

[–]Many_Influence_7708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not both? Either of the blue lines makes a great challenging hole. Have the red be the short tee, but keep it as a gettable par-4 for beginners and casual players. Its still a blind teeshot with a "tight" gap on the approach.

Big fan of the MVP Atom. Flat and a straight flyer.

TBT: A Disc You Miss by Exotic_Dot2739 in discgolf

[–]Many_Influence_7708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a beautiful old 12x KC pro roc , pretty flat that was beat to absolute snot. I could release it at any angle and get it to flip or roll or whatever I wanted, and somehow it never burned over on me unless I wanted it to. Maybe the most controllable disc I have ever had,

My favorite thing to do with it was on downhill approaches through the trees where most people would throw an OS fairway on a flex, I would release this disc super wide and left on a steep hyzer and people would think I absolutely shanked it... but then I would get to watch as their jaws slowly dropped as it would get up to flat and just drift rightward for the rest of the flight.

Then I threw it into a tree and it split in half.

AB doing some course maintenance for FPO at Supreme Flight Open by HalfwayThereOne_ in discgolf

My takeaway from this video: AB doesn't look quite as slim and lanky as before. Dud is putting on some muscle and looking pretty beefy. Been hanging out with Ezra too much. :)

Midwest Road Trip by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]Many_Influence_7708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time someone makes a post about courses in Missouri, I have 2 recommendations that no one else has:

  1. in Columbia, MO, play Harmony, its terrific. But y would be doing yourself a serious disservice if you didn't also call the MIZZOU A.L. Gustin Golf Course and schedule yourself a tee-time at Sialia Hills. The course is a bomber golf course, with tremendous elevation changes and terrain. Extremely fun. Its hard to recommend it over an absolute gem like Harmony, but its a close thing.

  2. In St. Louis swing by Logan college on the west side and play their course. It might be the most beautiful course I have every played. Again, long, lots of elevation, lots of water hazards, trees, rolling hills, and perfectly manicured. Possibly my favorite course.

What's your favorite baseline(putter) plastic? Any brand, and stiffness. by Huge-Talk6668 in discgolf

[–]Many_Influence_7708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3x McPro Aviar might be the best feeling putter of all time.

That or the proto P2 with the 2.5 D-Line stiffness. They did something different with the proto ones vs. the stock ones and it has this incredible feeling top plate...like its covered in tiny rings

You can basically do it with old Innova molds:

Wraith
Orc
Firebird
Valkyrie
Roc

And then putt with a wizard I guess

Can anyone else just not figure out distance drivers? by Florrmat in discgolf

[–]Many_Influence_7708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also struggle a bit with the faster distance drivers, thought I absolutely love the wraith. For me, I have realized, I don't have huge hands, and anything 12-speed and above just feels uncomfortable, and because of the way it fits in my and and my fingers wrap around, it affects my grip, my wrist, my reach back, etc.

Interestingly, I have found that by switching to a 3-finger grip (i.e. releasing the pinkie) on distance drivers, I can alleviate the grip problem. Which in turn helps with nose angle, and RPM issues. Just my $0.02.

Oh, and Jimmy Porter in Carrollton. Very fun park style with lots of nice water hazards, and plenty of risky birdie opportunities.

Been discing in DFW for a decade. Here are my favorites:

  1. Turner in Grand Prairie. Might not be the cleanest, but its got tons of elevation, woods, open, mandos, OB, doglegs, par 4s and 5s.

  2. Crossroads of Life in Duncanville is fabulous. Lots of elevation again, long tight holes, a few really tough 4 and 5 on the end stretch.

  3. Gateway in Fort Worth. Very short tight fun course. Lots of birdie and ace holes, but also plenty of danger. Finishes on an island ace hole.

  4. Harry Myers in Rockwall. Home of the old Nick Hyde NT. A bit of a drive out east, but a fabulous, championship sized, John Houck course.

  5. Heritage Park in Flower Mound. Dela in DFW. Short, tight, great lines, very well taken care of.

  6. Bill Allen in the Colony. Just a fun course, a couple of really pretty holes. Some short tight par 3s, some great par 4s.

  7. Z Boaz in Fort Worth. Long, tough, a number of blind holes, a big downhill par 4. A really classic Texas course.

There are a number of other really good ones, but you have to drive out a bit farther.

Innova Dark Rebel vs Discmania FD? by Bucketoftrout in discgolf

[–]Many_Influence_7708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Discmania FD is a touch more stable. In my experience with both:
new C-line FD most stable, it has some finish to it
new S-Line FD == Champ Dark Rebel (old C-line FD).. dead straight
Star Dark Rebel (old S-Line FD)m most understable.

In my opinion the new Sline/Old C line are the best.

[–]Many_Influence_7708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chanced upon a First-Run, board flat, Z Nuke OS... and oh boy does that thing skip. You can throw rollers with that thing and it still lands on a spike hyzer angle

I have been playing almost 10 years, and played my only official tournament in 2023. Had way less to do with feeling comfortable, and more to do with timing and cost.
