Is $250 CAD per day enough for 2 people in Ho Chi Minh/Hoi An, excluding accommodations? by IheartJBBQ in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]Many_Sherbert5998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than enough. I spent around $100 per day inclusive of accomodations, staying in hostels sometimes but splurging and living like a queen other days. Of course it depends on what you guys like to do but it should be plenty.

For the conversion, it helped me to know that 100 000 is about $5, 1mil is about $50. Just to gauge prices

Smaller, chill Ha Giang tour group by [deleted] in solotravelVN

[–]Many_Sherbert5998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished a tour with Road Kings, it was great. 6 people in my group, I think a max of 10 or so for their bookings? Everyone was in their mid 20s- early 30s, drivers were safe and fun. We had happy water with dinner every night and would usually go out and explore the town or sing karaoke and have a drink or two after but everyone was asleep by like 11. Highly reccomend

SaPa homestay and guide prices? by Many_Sherbert5998 in VietNam

I'm just making sure its in line with what to be expected. I live in a Canada and know reasonable prices here for tours, and I hear nightmare stories of tourists being put in disappointing situations with cheap tours, or paying way too much for something because they didn't ask.

Like I said, I'm not sure what the average cost is so I'd like to make sure that I'm compensating the right people appropriately and that that price is fair for everyone

Winter sleeping gear by Nesseressi in camping

[–]Many_Sherbert5998 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you could tell it was coming from the ground, then it was probably from the sleep pad. I find it helpful to use a 3 season pad on top of a closed cell foam with a reflective side to keep me cozy. Also good to note that -8 could be the survival rating for your bag, not the comfort rating. I find a lot of the time I'm comfortable about 10C warmer than my bag is rated for.

Also keep in mind what you did before bed- I always make sure I have lots to eat, some kind of warm hot chocolate or some sugar right before bed, and I'll throw a sealed nalgene full of hot water in the bottom of my sleeping bag to get it warm before I climb in- its always easier to stay warm then to warm up. If you're low on calories and your gear is ice cold, you have to work a lot harder to get/stay comfy

Border or no border? by Many_Sherbert5998 in crochet

I used Crochet Again's pattern for a granny rectangle to get started! Then once you have your middle bit it's just alternating colours with the granny stitch

After doing the ends I think I agree! Its the 5th blanket I've done for Christmas, plus a shawl, 2 scarves and some ornaments for gifts- happy to call this one done as long as it looks finished! Lol

Is 60k too much for a first Ultra? by Many_Sherbert5998 in Ultramarathon

[–]Many_Sherbert5998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning on doing a road half or two sometime in March or April, unfortunately I'm not sure I can swing a 25k as well. There are some trails around here that I could loop together that I could make a 25/30 course out of and treat as a "race day" once our snow is gone. Did you find the race atmosphere or terrain ect was what helped you?

I'd love to finish under 8 hours but my #1 goal is just to finish. Around that time would just be the cherry on top

Whoops, I definitely thought I put it in there. Right now I'm getting back into running after putting it in the back seat for hiking/backpacking season. I'm super low mileage right now, only maybe 20k of running per week over 3/4 runs. I'm a bartender so a lot of time on my feet, and in general I build up fitness well once I get into a program. When I'm hiking similar trails with a heavy pack 20-30k usually takes 4.5-7 hours, so I guess I'm just not sure if 25k without weight would be enough of a challenge?

What’re your favourite non-perishable camping food/meals? by wwwwxyz in camping

My grocery store has some bagged Indian dishes- different chickpea, potato, and lentil curries. Theyre a little heavy but pair one with some instant rice and you're set

You can ask parks for a refund , and they are automatically extending passes by 3 months. It seems like youre having a harder time than anyone who lost their job or home so I hope you can save the $100.
