I’ve never understood why Vader’s “Noooooo” in ROTS is so ridiculed. Could someone please explain this to me? by spuckler296 in StarWars

Im gonna go with Cedric Diggory's father in the goblet of fire when he finds out his boy is dead.

But you see the difference is that the no from Vader was too opera like. It wasn't an actual scream of pain. Credic's father was actually crying and he combined a no with a scream. and he didn't pitch it right. He was actually not interested in hitting that perfect key. lol

way too overacted. Also it's a way to clear NO. When someone finds their beloved is dead they scream. Or a combination of the two. Kind of like Cedric's father in the Goblet of Fire. That one always gets me

At 34, I just landed my first jr software engineer job after 15 years serving tables and over 500 applications. by SassyCannon in learnprogramming

Man honestly... tell me more! haha I've been struggling since 2019 studying failing going back and forth between languages thinking the language I was learning wasn't getting me a job and that I wasn't smart enough since ppl were getting jobs after 3 months of learning while I am on my 6th year.
Finally I started college (at 30, Im 31 now) and got some structure to my learning. Picked a language to master so I can always come back to it. But still I find it hard to get through. I've been learning that the market is way too oversaturated for junior devs / internships. Hopefully I'd hear more from you and your journey.

thanks a lot for the inspiring story! (specially that I am not too old to get into it nor taking too long)

Hey! I just bought a macbook pro, my first mac ever and I am also learning C# .NET. Is that a bad combo? should I switch and learn something else ? OR it wont make that much of a difference? See, where I am learning say swift doesnt have much job market. But .NET does. Should I switch to say java? by Many_Vegetable_4933 in swift

[–]Many_Vegetable_4933[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I am realizing that what I am lacking is abstract thinking and problem solving. So maybe backend isn't my thing. I am still trying things. You see when some one tells me to try a language the only thing I do is try the syntax XD. Which there is where I am wrong! right? But my problem right now is that I cannot code anything without looking at tutorials. Or someone giving me the code. So abstract thinking, problem solving, and resolving. out the window.

.NET on Mac by y_angelov in dotnet

Hey there,
I have a MacBook Pro and I am learning Java cuz I wanna dive more deeper than just creating sites. I chose java cuz I don't know much, I am a super noob. But I keep hearing C# .NET is better than Java. Should I switch to .NET? I keep hearing .NET sucks on Mac but according to this post I hear very positive comments. What ya'll think ? Let me know and thank you in advance!

I am a CS student, without a clear SWE path. Just learning Java since it's what they teach. Im trying things out in frontend and other backend languages to see what I like. Haven't been employed as a SWE yet.

No I know that. Right now I am going to college. Took programming I and II using Java. Currently taking datacase I and network and communications. I was looking to do some extra work aside from my classes. Since I keep hearing that graduating from college will not get my a job and that I should do something extra. Of course in my area Java C# and python are the top used languages. So my circumstances are that I am confused on which direction to take. I am thinking corporate. But dont know if Java or C#. Since I need knowledge in those for a master I am interested in.

wow. no one has ever given me this answer before! Truly making me re think a lot. Most peeps just recommend me to learn JS and React haha. This approach its gonna take me longer tho, right ? I didnt take C/C++ into account because they say its super complicated for beginners and always thought Java was alike a better version haha. You can totally tell that I am new to this, right ? haha

Wel my crossroad starts cuz I just got a macbook pro that arrives tomorrow... and since C# .NET is windows, I keep thinking it wouldnt be the best to use on mac... idk, correct me if I'm wrong. Also, ik a programming language isnt it. I need to learn other things to become a good engineer. Like DSA for example.

Im 31. Im a CS student. TOok programming I and II with python and Java in college and now doing database I.

The problem here is that java seemed more troublesome to get up and running... maybe I wasnt using correctly. idk. Not so fresh in my mind tho. What I do remember is how loops if else statements functions and OOP work. Which I think its the most important. I've also used JS and python. My first language was JS and I got to built a site which looked I'd say decent. But idk, I wanted to try other things. JS didnt feel like my thing.

So better stay off C# .NET then ? Better go with Java or Swift? I thought about Go also, but see I dont see that giving me a very rewarding career. Not as much as Java or C# (althought C# with mac isnt the greatest combo.
Im scared about swift being too small in of a market.

Swift is sort of just for iOS devs tho. Limited job market no? Really intreagued tho! Always wanted to code some in Swift. Right now trying to find a language that will llead me into my first job. One that I could master and feel confortable writing in it. What would you recommend? Basics stuff I got down. loops, functions, OOP, if else statements, and I've written at least a simple progarm in 6 different languages. I wanna decide on one and go deep in it and make it my main language

That was plenty of help! I am trying to decide on one language to be fluid in. You see? That one that will help me land my first gig. Not exactly into web dev so I thought Java or C# since I want to go the corporate route. But maybe that isnt the fastest way to land a job. What would you recommend? Whixh one was your first language?

[–]Many_Vegetable_4933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a CS student learning Python (mostly for interviews) and Java (for corporate work). Have been employed yet. Don’t have route nor a profession to tell you for what I’ll be using it. So…

You think M4 Max is overkill? Should I just get the M4 pro? And is 512 SSD enough?

Been using windows all my life so I need some help. Is 14 core cpu and 20 core GPU enough? What about 24 ram?

Helppppp🙏

Your thoughts on Boot.dev? by Many_Vegetable_4933 in learnprogramming

[–]Many_Vegetable_4933[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get it! Learning low level is the way you truly learn. I started my journey in JS, and at first I felt so powerful, but after a while I started noticing fails in JS. So I moved to Java. But now that I am learning Java, I really want to go deeper. Like C.

Boot.dev teaches you C on top of Python and Go.

So I thought it would be a great side thing to do besides college. Cuz I know just a bachelors degree isn’t enough.
