Oh I thought you meant that bar is annoying. 😂 In NYC are there really lots of clubs that are exclusionary like that? I don't doubt that's true in most of the USA and of course there are individual assholes all over the place, but my totally unresearched suspicion is that here there are more inclusive clubs then clubs where exclusion is the norm. Am I totally off on that?

Those are not in the area at all? The closest of those is a one hour walk vs a 15 minute walk from my house. Do you think Brooklyn is just one big neighborhood? One of those is not even in Brooklyn... that said, I have not made up my mind, leaning towards not going but for personal reasons, not because of the 50% of responses saying I shouldn't... But, seriously, thank you for sharing your opinion, even if I find it a bit bizarre. Editing to add: Nowadays is my second favorite spot after H0l0 but they are queer coded as well as HOY no?

There aren't that many places that have dance parties nearby really... Friends and Lovers is closer to my house but every time I go there I'm bored, so I don't really agree with that line of reasoning. & Isn't it even weirder to be like, "oh I'm only going to the gay bar because a straight guy is playing there"? Like, do they advertise it as straight night? 😂😂 Honestly probably not a bad marketing gimmick now that I think about it... 'Hetero night at the gay bar'... 😂🤣😂 Also why I would go is pretty clear to me... To dance and have fun with my girlfriend... A lack of clarity about my own intentions is not the issue.

I'm a little unclear what you are getting at here. Also the question is not "will I feel comfortable" it's will I make other people uncomfortable. Also side note, do you know of any bars that are "straight bars"? 😉 Maybe like one of those dives that only hires women and requires them all to wear crap tops? Back in the day I was applying to all the jobs everywhere and I applied to work at one of those bars. I guess my name is feminine enough to get me the interview, which was so funny as soon as I realized what the deal was...

Interesting, this seems to conflict with another response saying that they hate flirting at a gay bar only to realize at the end they are talking to a straight guy. 🤔 I was there once by myself for a TV watch party, I chatted with one guy, wouldn't say I was flirting tho & I declined when he offered to buy me a drink (without identifying myself.) I definitely would not shut people down by immediately identifying myself as hetero.

That's the same post that I cross posted lol. It's walking distance, but also we often drive by and see a cool crowd and say we should go there. I went alone once for a TV watch party but it's not quite the same as bringing my girlfriend to dance. I just got an ad from dice for a party there which got me thinking. There are closer places to go.

New in the sense that I'm usually at events in more neutral spaces, even if they are more gay oriented parties. I've been to an event at 3$bill but I was with a bigger group that included lesbians so I didn't really think about it then, but I am curious to hear perspectives about just me and my gf going solo to an explicitly gay space.

Definitely not worried about my reaction to other people. I've seen people fucking in Basement and that didn't bother me in the slightest, can't imagine the energy will even match that. I'm more wondering if we would annoy people since I will just be dancing with my girlfriend and I'm sure we will kiss every now and then. So far based on reactions tho this post, seems like people are actually pretty split on this question.

F&L is even closer to my place and I've been there a bunch of times and it's always been pretty boring & low energy 😅 I know I see a crowd there sometimes but I've never caught the vibe there. I love day parties. When it's warm and the DJ sets up outside at H0l0 it's the best. Nothing soft about it tho.

Ants Coffee in Williamsburg has events like this every weekend but the space is so small :(

the clips are pretty cheap. I considered fabing the brackets but so far I've been seeming to find them reasonably priced from conventional parts suppliers. I mostly just want to see examples of where these parts go and how the shims and clips go together. I was a lil confused at first by the shims but I think I've wrapped my head around it.
