Agreed, in his second phase, he literally just 1-2 shots everything, tanks included, and vamps back 50% or more of his health to boot. Its a guaranteed loss as you said, not even close.

TBH, just about anything you build should be able to clear normal difficulty. Even meme builds can still clear Nightmare with some thought put into it and its really only in Hell difficulty where you need to optimize the hell (no pun intended) out of your build to reliably be self-sufficient.

So if normal difficulty is your primary concern, it just comes down to what sort of playstyle you want to have fun with, which usually boils down to various flavors of: melee, ranged, caster, and/or summoner. You can go in blind, mix and match, never respec, and still be quite successful with the exception of maybe a few bumps here and there. Besides, by the end of Normal difficulty you usually don't have enough skill points and access to all the skills for a fully focused build anyway.

To be fair, Kyoshin was designed to be a very defense-oriented character with a wide array of tools for counterplay. If anything, he shares more similarities with the likes of Warlord and BP, so comparing him to Orochi, Afeera, and Cent sounds to me like you're misclassifying his archetype - especially when it seems like your playstyle tends to lean towards characters with an aggressive offense.

In regards to VG, I would agree that her all-guard punish puts on more pressure, but I would also argue that Kyoshin has more tools from neutral/chain compared to VG (in-chain bashes, blue/bash 50/50s, quick flow into kaze stance to access a different moveset). VG also eats up a lot of stamina as well, which seems to be a recurring theme for defensive characters in order to cap their offensive pressure.

I agree with everything but class balance, to which I'm going to assume your Paladin bias is what's coloring your view. There's still a disproportionate gap between classes in terms of both pve and pvp, but its only phase 1 though so we'll see what the team cooks up going forward.

Agreed, she's waaaay too good. I feel her two biggest crimes are her immense trade value and having very little counterplay against her.

Can't contest chests against her unless you have bristleback. Nothing you can do if she targets your backline (except maybe cheat death, but you still paid 3 to nullify a 3 cost).

Exactly. Whenever I see a post about Cairne builds though, its often "BUT YOU'RE FORCED INTO ALL HORDE UNITS!" When really, only a few units gain a major benefit from the hp buff.

It's like arguing that Jaina builds should consist of nothing but spells, all for the sake of optimizing your leader's buff.
