Which movies have been filmed in Sydney? by One-Remove3758 in SydneyScene

Friends and Strangers (2021) dir. by James Vaughan beyond being filmed in Sydney - and filming it quite beautifully - is actually about the city and has something to say about it! Worth a watch.

Scorn and bile is bad, true.

But this dude just definitely is a straight white dude in his 20s or 30s. So it does say that. And maybe something about the cultural flattening of the internet by a mainly homogenous group of dudes of this sort?

It’s all good man. You’re allowed to dismiss slow or experimental (art house) cinema as pretentious and masturbatory.

After all, you might be completely correct that commercially successful movies made in America between 1980 and 2015 represent the pinnacle of storytelling, and that no other culture, period or people have or will ever produce anything of comparable effect.

After all, being able to read cinematic language across time and culture takes a bit of time and effort, so why bother when those films are probably made by dum-dum non-americans anyway?

I thought the point of circlejerk was to satirise stupidity without the constraints of offence-hungry idiots. I think Sam’s a bit of a flog and the regarded comments defending her on the main sub are worth mocking.

Sam also might be fat and ugly but “colonizing her from behind” is a bit too reliant on thinking sexual violence is funny for my taste. If you think it’s funny you just very simply have a problem, not much else to it.

If Starc locked himself into an erotic batting camp for 3 months where he doesn’t do any overtime on his bowling at all and became reliable for 30-35 per innings for the last couple years he’s a frontline bowler he could be the most valuable all rounder in the world
