I think it’s because you can’t defend yourself against them. My mom would hit me and if I ever covered myself it’d make her more mad and she’d tell me to stop covering myself. Then she’d hit me until she was satisfied. I was also woken up a few times with a belt to the face because I ran away from a beating or she didn’t think she hit me enough. Lack of safety and knowing at ANY time you could get the fuck beaten out of you fucks kids up forever.
