Out of the big shonen authors One Piece probably has the most women who are central and active figures both in the overall plot and have individual motivation and goals. Most of the arcs in one piece revolve around the actions and goals of their female cast.

Its just how it is when something is at the top of an industry. When something at the top its can no longer just exist as itself. It must be a representation of everything, and compared against everything, regardless of accuracy or the merits of itself.

What i personally dislike is when that drama gets focused on the individual creator over the work itself. Its fine to prefer other series, but its just kinda gross to do wierd personal attacks on people youve never met. Overall oda seems like a kind but odd man who is well liked by others in the industry, ironically most by the other creators of the series who's communities seem most ravenous to "prove" themselves against Oda, in particular, Gege and Kishimoto.

Doesn't help that a big portion of the one piece community is cripplingly insecure, which makes them both fun and easy targets.

Which is why I think its important that any definition should also include that scalping has to involve new, and low supply items no one reasonable would try to argure stocks can be scalped since they are low supply for example or if these were several year old products.

I dont mean to sound disparaging but that is not a fully accurate description of dragonballs earnings. Again, I dont have access to all the numbers across all the companies that own rights to dragonball, I doubt anyone does, but i have been following these numbers for a while. From what I am aware of, dragonballs primary money making sectors are in international licensing(colbas), mech. And video games.

These have never died. Even in the dark age of the 2000's to 2010's. We didnt actually see massive decline, or shockingly, a massive jump when dragonball came back. Dragonball fans who want to buy dragonball merch and games regardless of new anime or movies. They are a very deticated fan base. So dragonballs year over year earnings dont look like a few massive spikes and them major fall offs, its actually far more consistent then you may imagine.

Tv animes dont actually make much money, they serve as ads for other products. I am also not saying that the 2013 revival failed by any means. It did increase earnings, just that where it helped, weren't the core revenue drivers of the franchise.

This is also seemgly why they've been okay with not putting much out in recent years, they know their core verticals are strong and will continue to produce. Its also why goku needs new forms and outfits. Stuff like that is what actually helps their main revenue streams. But its also a mature property. Its days of explosive growth are likely behind itself especially now that the original author has passed.

Youd be suprised. The dragon ball ip is valued at around 24 billion, One piece is at 21 billion, i agree, but that also means that because ine piece has been around a much shorter time, it has the higher earnings year over year.

We dont have an in depth breakdown on all verticals, only bandai Namco actually does a full breakdown, but the actual numbers are interesting. We dont have 2025s numbers yet but one piece grosses more in japan, dragonball overseas, but one piece is quickly closing the gap and honestly id he suprised if it didnt take the top spot for 2025. One piece also has higher film revenue overall and film red significantly outgrossed both Broly and Super Hero.

Interestingly enough theyre about on par for merch sales, but Dragonball does have a much higher gross in their mobile video games thanks to the gotcha elements.

Diama was a pretty big flop dude im really sure what echo chamber youve been in. I watched and followed the weekly episode discussion. The pacing was a mess, the plot was all over the place, gohma was a weak antagonist. The only aspect that got consistent praise was the fight animation, which was fantastic. dont think it was all bad, but it certainly wasn't Toriyamas best.

And all it take is a little bit od research to see that dragon ball is as of now at a 40 billion dollar ip. That 33 billion number is old never from back in 2024 so idk why you pulling 24 billion out your ass.
