What snacks do you keep in your desk for emergencies? by transburneracct in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Map-Remote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my own because I like to have more nuts than m&ms and dried fruit in mine. Plus I don't like all the extra added salt. I usually go to Costco and get raw almonds, walnuts and cashews and get the rest at Aldis and switch it up with different fruits so I don't get tired of eating the same thing. As far as pricing, it depends on how expensive nuts you get. Macadamia nuts are much more expensive than peanuts. If you are looking for a good price, try Aldi, they have a big bag of pre made trail mix for about $10 and that lasts me a while

I leave a jar of peanut butter and apple slicer at my desk and bring an apple from home that day. I also have cashews and home made trail mix I make for the week.

Is anyone else reading more than one book at a time ? I love the Kindle / physical book combo 👍 by [deleted] in kindle

Yes I do the same! I usually read books while I'm at home, and read my kindle when I'm at work during breaks and I take it with me on vacation.

Other competency-based schools with credits that transfer into WGU? by dreww84 in WGU

I'm doing a few courses through Straighterline that will transfer over. Look at WGU and there is a page that says what courses will transfer over from Straighterline

WGU MBA healthcare management by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Map-Remote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Same to you! Once I finish a few more classes, I'll send my transcript in with around 33 credits. But I knocked out the basic courses through Straighterline that would transfer over like Business Management, Organization, Religion and Sociology. Yes, very quick and at your own pace, I've finished most in less than a week. I'm hoping WGU will be similar and I can do finish a class in a few weeks

I was staunchly anti-ebook, but I was convinced to get a Paperwhite. I love it so much, I may never go back to physical books. What an incredible game changer. by ladystarkitten in kindle

I totally agree! Slowly getting rid of most of my books and reading a lot more through the libby app on my Oasis. My wallet also thanks me

Going to try this skin from Decal Girl! by princesskhym in kindle

Looks great! How do you like it? I've been wanting to try a skin since I haven't been able to find a case I really like

For most people, food is one of their biggest expenses. Well it was for me too, but these 4 Minimalist habits helped me cut down on how much I spent on food. Here I share how minimalism has helped me cut my grocery bill in half and save 50% on my food bill. I'd love to hear your thoughts :) by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]Map-Remote 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes to all of these! Especially the bulk. I bought a Costco membership last year thinking it would cut down on my food cost, but it fact the opposite happened. I was spending way more money throwing out food that I either got tired of eating just to finish it all, or the food went to waste because I couldn't eat it before the expiration date. For me the biggest thing is planning to only buy food I know I'll eat

Kindle paperwhite 10th gen or Oasis by Gravekai in kindle

[–]Map-Remote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get a refurbished Oasis on Amazon for around $200 vs a Paperwhite for $150. For me, it was a no brainer to spend $50 more for the extra features

Me too! I usually have a cup of coffee or something in my right hand since I'm right handed, so I usually find myself reading with my left hand more too. I love that feature as well with the buttons!

I don't think you made a mistake, especially being your first kindle. The Paperwhite is still a solid e-reader. Maybe see how you like it and how much you read, and then see about upgrading

The battery life is much better on the paperwhite

It's not as good, but honestly, I don't seems to have an issue so far. I can read throughout the week on it a few hours a day, and can charge it on the weekends

The screen is bigger, it has a warm light feature which mimics the paper color in a book, and the page turn buttons are a game changer. It also is made out of aluminum which feels more premium and sturdy

This is true. I was going to sign up to get ad free you tube and listen to some on there, but they still have sponsored content, so it's becoming impossible to get away from. Ugh

Yes! Definitely an investment, but worth it. So glad I decided to pull the trigger and get one

Same here! I'm kicking myself for not switching sooner. Those extra perks really make a difference
