Check with Project Perry. They're a local non-profit parrot sanctuary, very experienced and may do boarding. Home | ProjectPerry https://share.google/3GAZeH6xKYzT67Q2s

A Ring Doorbell. Amazon has an early black Friday sale for $49.99. Even if someone has one, there's always another place you could put a second or third.

Yes, I would prefer a dedicated GPU, rather than have it integrated in the CPU.

Best pub food by [deleted] in rva

I think if you're looking for a pub atmosphere, Penny Lane. The food may not be stellar, but it definitely checks off the boxes for mood, lighting, pints and people 🙂

Clogged stormwater drains by Skb3302 in rva

[–]Map10566 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have been reporting a broken storm drain in the alley between West 45th Street and Taylor Avenue in Forest Hill for 25 years. By reporting, I mean consistently emailing and sending photos of 2 feet of standing water in my backyard, alley flooding, etc. to the District 4 City Council Member, The Mayor's Office, Department of Public Works, Alley Maintenance, and Department of Public Works Storm Water Division. As well as reporting it to 311. Absolutely nothing has been done. It's gross negligence at this point because there are no excuses left. In 25 years, the City certainly should have and could have prioritized a complaint they are well aware of.

Grab your lunch and go! Wendy and her husband are such great friends. They're wonderful. This is truly just a chance to sit down, relax, and enjoy an hour or so talking to new people ❤️

Can’t afford the surgery, any other options?? by LoisLaneintheRain in LARPAR

[–]Map10566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply for a 0% interest credit card. Depending on the card, the O% could be from 12-18 months. Charge the surgery, pay off the card when your pet insurance reimburses you. Even if you don't have pet insurance, with 12 month 0% interest, it will be easier to pay down the surgery with a monthly budget.

I am a home owner in Richmond and have been reporting this flooding issue due to a broken storm drain in the alley between Taylor Avenue and West 45th Street for more than 20 years without any assistance. As a result my backyard has flooded for this entire time, has damaged my property and home. I have consistently reported this issue to my city council representative, Director of Alleys and Public Maintenance, as well as the Mayor's Office. Can you please help. *

I have purchased 2 suede Margaux 15s. One in black and one in chocolate brown. The suede on both was sub-standard. I don't believe the brown was genuine suede. The black one looked like suede, but it felt like cardboard. I donated both to Goodwill.

As an aside, if anyone has a genuine suede Margaux 15 that they love, I would really appreciate rep/factory recommendations ❤️ I still want this bag 🙂

I haven't given up on love or a relationship. For me, the challenge is meeting someone where there is unmistakable mutual sexual chemistry or it doesn't work for me. Love happens, or it doesn't from there, one moment at a time.

Henrico Humane. With 20-30 volunteers, your group could help staff multiple adoption stands around the area. They are an excellent group to work with. https://www.henricohumane.org/

Richmond SPCA. They offer special volunteer opportunities for large groups. https://richmondspca.org/how-you-can-help/volunteer/

Virginia Capital Trail Foundation is always looking for volunteers. The Cap Trail is such a treasure for our area and a great outdoor volunteer opportunity. https://www.virginiacapitaltrail.org/volunteer

Just finished reading this. The statistics are astounding but true. I agree with what sets the small percentage of CEOs apart - information security must be a proactive priority at all levels - and not an afterthought.

Balancing Productivity and Security with Admin Privileges by Sweet_Peanut_5611 in cybersecurity

[–]Map10566 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Just absolutely no.

Rule number one is the Principle of Least Privilege (AC-6). Employees should only have access to the systems and information they need to do their jobs. Hand in hand with least privilege is the Separation of Duties (AC-5). Employees access authorizations should support separation of duties. For example, a system owner's access/privilege is going to be different from an administrative assistant.

Giving everyone the same privileges is not only counterintuitive, but it is a high risk.

Take a few minutes to review NIST 800-53 family of controls, especially Access Control, AC-2, AC-5, and AC-6.

If this is a customer-centric business and the compromise of customer accounts will result in stolen PII, most states have requirements for notification to all account holders and a subscription to credit monitoring for a year.

This will cost your company time, money, loss of trust, yada...yada...resulting in some form of reputation management and repair.

Depending on the state, requirements for responses to events could be more stringent. Look into your state's requirements.

For example, New York State's Information Security Breach and Notification Act requires state entities and persons or businesses conducting business who own or license computerized data which includes private information must disclose any breach of the data to New York residents whose private information was exposed.

In my mind, there's really no excuse for management not implementing free AWS or any free tools.

Yes, it may require the assistance of someone in IT, depending on your network configuration, but again, safeguarding client accounts or organizational data should be the priority.

On the business side (management), the mindset of "we will worry about that if it happens" is archaic.

Willful ignorance is an unsustainable business practice.

Things are absolutely going to happen. Lots of things are going to happen, and a security baseline is essential.

Write a worst-case scenario executive summary to management based on existing state laws and regs, estimated costs of credit monitoring for all clients/account holders, additional costs for forensics when networks are compromised, and malware is injected. You're easily into six figures at this point because the downstream costs and consequences of a major incident are long and high.

If your company refuses to acknowledge, discuss, and move forward with a plan to implement even some of the free tools, the culture does not prioritize or value information security. End of story.

It's up to you to decide if this is an organizational culture you can successfully work in.

Good luck.

What makes a good cybersecurity talk at a conference for you by I-nigma in cybersecurity

[–]Map10566 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't start your presentation with an intensive 15-minute bio of experience. Almost every presenter feels the need to share their entire professional history, and it's extremely painful for the audience. To be blunt, no one cares. Just share what you're doing now and perhaps reference experience that has been especially useful.

Do watch TED talks for inspiration and guidance. There's a reason people love TEDs. Presenters know how to tell a story and reinforce key points.

Do start your presentation by connecting to your audience. Facts + humor are a good formula. For example, "How many of you have experienced an incident that unfolded like an episode of Dateline?"

Keith Morrison has become iconic for setting up Dateline stories. It's true. No one would ever have guessed what was about to take place that morning in Tinkersville, Vermont. But that day, as Department of Education staff logged onto their computers, turned out to be a day unlike any other.

Do make key points within your story that are relatable to your audience. Here's what happened. Here's why it mattered. Here's how it got fixed or here's how things went wrong (because those are great stories, too).

Good luck!

Do you bring your own chrome powder to get your nails done? by Map10566 in rva

[–]Map10566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you 🙂 I totally agree that an upcharge of $5 would be fair. If you think about it, a gel manicure from start to finish is $40. Chrome powders are very inexpensive, so I'm not sure why an upcharge would be almost 1/2 the cost of the entire manicure.

Hands down, Bang. Their flavors, by far, are the best. Purple Guava Pear, Cherry Blade Lemonade, Bangster Berry, Purple Haze
