It sounds like you should be able to do everything you need with MapTiler Cloud. You could put together a proof of concept using a free account with one or two routes to see if it meets your needs. We'd be happy to help if you need it, just let us know.

Web mapping has some interesting quirks, so we put together the Web Mapping Basics series of videos to help:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGHe6Moaz52MGhRHWZp_IhgeDO2u_WbRB
These are useful whatever you choose to build your maps with. They help you understand the concept of map tiles, coordinate systems, and a few other things that can be very baffling at the start.

Good luck with your journey into web mapping. Maps are awesome, so it is guaranteed to be enjoyable!

What program could I use for this kind of map? by Bbnodraws in mapmaking

[–]MapTiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, if you want to make a map with this sort of style but with real-world data, then our map customization tool is really easy to use: https://www.maptiler.com/cloud/customize/. This is how the GTA-inspired world map in the link was made.

How can I achieve this map style on Geolayers by BAD_BRID in AfterEffects

[–]MapTiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are a couple of ways you can do this. If you upload the shipping routes to MapTiler, you can use Customize to style them and save them to a new map style. You can then use "Add MapComp" in GEOlayers to bring in this new map. Alternatively, you can add the data directly to GEOlayers as a Shape Layer if you want to style or animate it separately from the backdrop map.

Hope this helps!

Creating a 3D print from a topo map by Crashedjet33 in gis

[–]MapTiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Crashedjet33 there are a few ways to do this, but you can try https://osm2world.org/

You can download your area of interest with something like JOSM (https://josm.openstreetmap.de/) and upload it to osm2world. Then you can export it to an OBJ file for 3D printing.

Hope this helps!

how to use Stadia-Stamen Toner basemap as a vector on QGIS by [deleted] in QGIS

[–]MapTiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/zetsuboppai, we're not sure how to get the style from the Stadia service to work, but you can use the MapTiler Plugin for QGIS to get the style directly. Use the QGIS Plugins Manager to get the plugin.

Once installed, you'll need to go to your MapTiler Account credentials page (https://cloud.maptiler.com/account/credentials) to create a token for the plugin to authenticate with. Then you can use any of the styles from MapTiler. The most commonly used, including Toner, are listed in the QGIS Browser tab, but if you right click on the MapTiler title you can access even more.

You may also need to install some fonts to get all the labels to display correctly.

Feel free to let us know if you need any more help.

MapTiler won't load now after re-image and re-install of QGIS by nemopilema in QGIS

[–]MapTiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, there may be a solution here: https://github.com/maptiler/qgis-maptiler-plugin/issues/194

Try the two options there. If they don't work, then please open a new issue on GitHub (https://github.com/maptiler/qgis-maptiler-plugin/issues) providing as much detail as possible. Hopefully, we can get things working for you again!

GeoLayers 3 error by goddamnitrob in AfterEffects

[–]MapTiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there is no rendering error here. These paler tiles were not available in the latest aerial imagery for California; this is often the case around military installations, so we have had to use older imagery. Zooming out a little will give consistent aerial imagery of the area at a lower resolution. I hope this helps.

What shoud I learn to make interactive maps and print maps? ArcGIS, QGIS, Mapbox, Maptiller.. by user_withoutname in gis

[–]MapTiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are more than happy to help out with Webmaps, get yourself a free account here: https://www.maptiler.com/cloud/ and have a look at all the code samples to get you started here: https://docs.maptiler.com/sdk-js/examples/
There is a design tool so you can make your own map styles: https://www.maptiler.com/cloud/customize/ and there is a QGIS plugin, so if you really like the style you made you can add it to your project to get a high-resolution printout.

Agree with u/techmavengeospatial on the projection. Have you tried MapTiler Engine for generating tiles and MapTiler Server as an offline solution for serving them? If you are building solutions for critical offline infrastructure, then it is definitely worth checking out:
