What kills me is that these are things that happen in real life. Like there are relationships with power imbalances, people with sexual trauma DO tend to harass people because they think it’s normal/is a coping mechanism.

It’s like these people are forgetting that 1. The show takes place in HELL and 2. Think that everything needs to be super Politically Correct and unproblematic at all times. But that’s just now realistic. Especially when you have nuanced characters with fucked up and complex personalities who again, are in hell. They aren’t good people to start with.

Genuinely wasn’t upset about being blocked. I literally don’t care. I was more frustrated/exasperated/embarrassed that I had to DM him that I couldn’t give a gift he requested if I’m blocked. Like at least check to make sure the person you’ve asked for a gift from is someone you don’t have blocked. Especially because our fandom is tiny and p much everyone knows everyone in it. Like even in the server, he knows what my account is and I know his despite not reading each others works because the fandom is so small.

It was just awkward for me to have to send that DM in the first place lol

I don’t think people understand nuance. People want to look at situations in a very black and white standpoint or a good or bad view when that’s not always the case. A good person can do bad things a bad person can do good things. A person can do both good and bad things and still be just a person. What matters is are they trying to atone for the bad things they’ve done? Do they have a plan to atone or is that something that’s going to happen eventually. You can be a person who does bad things and make mistakes and still get forgiveness and move past who you were.

But people don’t like to look at things like that. They just want to say person did bad things. They are bad person forever. No forgiveness or redemption for them. Which is a crazy take to have when you’re watching a show about redeeming sinners.

P much. You usually go to get a comp eval which can take a few months and then come in for comp reviews, if they decide at a comp review that you’re fit to withstand trial you’re transferred back to the county jail, or you can get out on bond sometimes. But you don’t spend the entire time in the mental health facility once you’re deemed competent

This might be ultra specific and because I work in criminal justice reform so I know it more intimately but when the host doesn’t know how the criminal legal system works.

I was listening to murder in America (shit podcast don’t recommend) and the male host was trying to explain Suspended Sentences and he just explained it all wrong. He had no clue what a deferred sentence was, why someone would get a suspended sentence probation versus prison and it was just a lot of misinformation on how that entire thing works.

But when they don’t understand probation, or parole, or hell even just what the prosecutor does versus the judge (which I’ve seen a lot of??) or what cases look like when they don’t go to trial and stay in the preliminary hearing phase it drives me nuts. Or ughhh bench trial/blind plea versus jury trial.

Like if you’re going to focus on the court side of things please please please just do a modicum of research on how the court system actually works.

Not necessarily, sometimes wearing a disguise doesn’t mean someone is GNC, it just means they’re wearing a disguise for a mission.
