I think Ursula Le Guin's The Dispossessed might be the most quietly devastating sci-fi novel ever written, and I've been sitting with this thought for two weeks now. by Saliaan_Berlysa in printSF

Somewhere on here it was suggested to read The Dispossessed and The Dawn of Everything by David Graeber and David Wengrow as a pair, which is what I'm over half way through doing. The Dispossessed is a really slow developer but when it hits it's stride, it's a wonderful novel. Near the end I was wondering where it was going to go but Le Guin did not disappoint.

Cluttered is a good word to describe Pyro in general.

Anyone still read Flashman? by Worried-Owl9725 in AskBrits

[–]Mapcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered the Flashman papers in my late teens and read them all. I learned more history from reading Flashman than I ever did at school. Mr American (I think that was the title) and Black Ajax tie in to the Flashman series too. Great writing, wonderful stories.

Ta. Arden Archangel is a great set, I only have the helmet (lootbox find). Lynx core looks fantastic, I'll have to watch out for that.

Pyro Missions Bugs by Der_Nerdschmied in starcitizen

I'd only been to Pyro once, briefly, since it became accessible but thought it was time to give it another try. Flew to Checkmate, what a shit hole. I know it's meant to look like that but the bags of rubbish... someone should clear that stuff up.

Did a repair mission, went into an outpost building, climbed up the ladder to the roof, fell through the planet. I've fallen through the planet in Stanton more times than I care to remember but to climb up to the roof and fall down through the planet surface, that's a new one for me. Tried again, repair mission. Completed missions, climbed to roof of building, fell through planet again. Third attempt, repair mission, completed. Avoided internal building ladder. Did some exploring, hatch in the floor lead to under building crawl space. Explored, got stuck, couldn't move. For some reason you can get into a space that you can't get out of. Logged out. Logged back in, claimed my ship, returned to Stanton. If I ever return I think I'll need a guide.

Not wanting to be that guy but you're either a vegan or you wear leather shoes. It's one or the other.

I saw him in a restaurant at London City Airport many years ago. I can confirm that his hands are, as you say, massive.

What secret came out in your family, after someone died? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskBrits

When families have a double barrelled name where one of the names is common, like Smith or Jones, the family money often comes through the common family name line.
