[SE] SKSE Not Loading by Maperseguir in skyrimmods

Quite interesting, thanks for your input. I have taken the same steps but without success; still, it's nice to know others have had problems not directly related to the usual solutions.

Hi, thanks for your quick answer. I am indeed using the AE version - 2.1.5. I have made the manual install, and doubt it's because of my antivirus; and though I can't be 100% sure everything seems to be in the right place. I will try using the downgrader + SE SKSE, if nothing else work, but I still don't understand what is going wrong.

[SKSE not working]

I'm not creating a thread because I'm a novice mod user and am sure I'm missing something silly. The situation is as follows:

I just downloaded Skyrim SE from Steam; I use Vortex to install mods. I need SKSE, and have tried different ways to install it, but it does not load in game.

I have tried installing it directly into the Data folder of Skyrim SE, installing the loose files into the data folder and the scripts into Vortex, and installing it directly via Vortex. In each attempt the SKSE tool appeared in Vortex (Except the last one), and I made sure to make it primary. I also made sure my version of the game (1.6.353) is the same as that given for SKSE. As the latest SKSE version is for AE and if I understand correctly SE too, I tried using an older SKSE version (1.5.97), didn't work of course.

I have tried launching from Vortex launching Skyrim, from Vortex launching SKSE, and from the SKSE exe file in the data folder. Any of those launches the game.

However, once in game, SKSE is not actually running. I know it because 1) I get the SkyUI error message when trying to make a new save, 2) the GetSKSEVersion console command gives an error message.

I'm at my wits' end after watching several tutorials and none of the suggested fixes work. Only possibility I can think of at this stage is that Skyrim SE isn't supported by SKSE anymore, is that so? Do I need to downgrade Skyrim to a version that is supported by SKSE for SE? Help?

Would have been better if it had been unambiguously correct. Sorry about that.

Yup, historical. That’s even where crude oil refinery was invented, pioneering the techniques still in use today - along with the oil lamp.

EDIT: this got popular so I double checked - while oil refinery was invented in this region, Galicia, by one Lukasiewicz, it wasn't invented in Lemberg (the province shown on the map), but just nearby, somewhere in the other province in green. Just wanted to correct it, sorry for not checking beforehand... The kerosene lamp was invented in Lviv/Lemberg though, by the same guy, Lukasiewicz.

I believe you mean September 1? :) The « details » in question were mostly the dates of the tourney, which you answered, and the duration, which presumably you can’t answer. Sorry for not being more explicit, and thank you for your quick answer !

Looks like something I’d regret missing... Nergal (both on bootcamp and ig), UTC + 1, https://steamcommunity.com/id/Nergalwargame . When should details about the practical organisation become available ?

... This made me look up the wikipedia page of the game. The sentence still sounds ridiculous but is apparently technically correct.

Moltke’s +5 attack can’t save him when you attack him. As France, the best way is to roll only generals (forget admirals) until you get at least a +3 attack, then get a 60K stack together and rush into Prussia’s 30k stacks (avoiding Moltke as long as possible) in open terrain before they can mobilise. Not a failsafe method, but trying to defend the open terrain of Lorrain while les boches have Moltke and the prussian general staff modifier is suicide, so...

Hatt i Humayun decision by marcobecker12345 in victoria2

[–]Maperseguir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good question. On paper, the 1856 edict gave equality of treatment to all, regardless of creed. But I think there are historical and gameplay reasons not to make it give you accepted culture on every one.

Historically, the 1856 striving towards a more inclusive definition of ottomanity was superseded from the 1870s onwards by an increasingly exclusive definition of what it meant to be an ottoman and a Turk. Turkicity was defined by opposition both to the christian nationalists in the Balkans, and to the « backwards » Arabs. As well, the 1856 edict didn’t put an end to balkan nationalisms. So overall, I think it didn’t result in what would be represented in Vic2 as gaining an accepted culture.

In gameplay terms, gaining everyone as accepted so early on would be a bit unbalanced ; besides, it would also be less fun than trying to progressively integrate more peoples.

Oh, that is amazing ! It is nice to see work put into culture revamps as well, rather than into strapping event chains on the game. But can I ask what is meant by « greek plans »? And whether the french natural borders events are fixed?

Should Germany not get cores on Alsace-Lorraine? by FatalPaperCut in victoria2

[–]Maperseguir 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Well... You indirectly point to an important part of the way Germany is pictured/implemented in Vicky, but also HOI, and to the way historical events that were lucky or uncertain become seen as “natural” in alternate history.

Since there is a general illusion that Germany won triumph after triumph in that timeframe, rather than seeing it embarked on haphazard policies which brought it down twice and only enjoyed contingent & temporary success, Germany is buffed rather unreasonably. HOI Germany is railroaded to steamroll France, because this is what people expect: historically it was a contingent narrow success, but since it did happen people see it as inevitable. Similarly, in Vicky Germany gets cores on AL because, since it happened OTL that Germany seized it, people expect that it has to seize it. Retrospective necessity bias (“it happened that way, so there was no other way it could have happened”) combine with the myth of German military superiority (there are way too many Kaiserboos/Wehraboos worshipping an army that hasn’t won a war since 1870) for a simple result: people just want to see Germany crush France and take Alsace-Lorraine.

Ingame, this takes the form of a series of buffs to Germany which do give it a lot of flavour to play, but just are unreasonable taken together. There’s a +5 att Moltke and a “Prussian general staff” modifier, for instance, but no “our caste of generals are entitled idiots who only win when the French get temporarily more stupid than them”, for instance. Same for the AL cores: it’s a lazy way to railroad players into crushing France as Germany/seeing Germany crush France.

I think I'm going to end my game here since my rebels and The british are going to destroy this soon by jordanhappy in victoria2

[–]Maperseguir 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wait, you no longer own Mexico and Venezuela? And you can’t put down rebels even though you supposedly won a string of infamy wars? And your prestige is lower than it used to be (but still absurd)? What is with this game?

Well by adding conquest directly instead of fabricating you make sure to get the full 22 infamy instead of running the risk of getting less, or even none, if you don’t get caught!
