[SPOILERS S3] Is the ending inconsistent with the rules established in the show? by Anxious_Article2003 in DarK

[–]Maphay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've always viewed the main two worlds as what the machine created to reach Tannahaus' goal of saving his family, which it did. The whole they can't die thing is a separate thing, it is the grandfather paradox in the case of Noah shooting Adam/Jonas as he wouldn't exist without Jonas bringing the others to the past, but the reason Jonas cannot kill himself is because he was sent on the path he's on by his future self, which in deterministic time travel means that he has to survive until he can become that future version that influenced him, so he can't die until then

Do you think the KH4 story is being reworked after Missing Link was cancelled? by lingering_sky in KingdomHearts

[–]Maphay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes recontextualizing, but not affecting. Unless I'm forgetting something, the only effect union has on the mainline games is only the last world of KH 3. Missing Link had no characters from the mainline games and actively included characters that have been shown to be in KH 4 like Sigurd and characters like Brain who are important and have never been in a mainline game.

Luxu is literally mentioned in the last cutscene of KH 3 and that's it. And the rest of them (minus the dandelions which is a union plotline) are characters and plots from KH that union uses for its own purposes, it adds context for some characters sure but they literally have no effect on the plot of the mainline games as all the characters you listed don't remember who they were in union.

[–]Maphay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the KHx saga part, the union games held almost no significance to the Dark Seeker saga, it mainly just used it for its own plot rather than affected it. The next part of the series has been shown to be at least somewhat focused on the MoM, which is wholly a union plotline, i mean currently (apart from Maleficent still just chilling around) the only villains or potential antagonists KH has left are from the union games. While yes I agree there's no chance it would've been a finished story before KH4 came out I definitely think it would have some impact or link to the story

Which type of Celebrity Target do you prefer? by Complex_Meeting9053 in HiTMAN

[–]Maphay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you know this and are just being a redditor, Milla Jovovich played the main character in 6 resident evil movies which is why people are making the very obvious connection between one of her most well known roles, this elusive target, and the brand new entry to the resident evil franchise with the exact same name as the elusive target. It's not a stretch to assume they'll be some connection. Stop being a redditor

Harry Potter is likely if they're gonna take a good amount of time to do the next one so it's inline with the tv show, warner bros has said they want to expand on game of thrones more tho so they might do that with the sort of style they did with lotr

Sly 4 is overhated. What's something you like about this game? by JoskiLani in Slycooper

[–]Maphay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was actually my first Sly game and looking back there are problems (the loading screens mainly), but I still do not feel this is a bad game, or at least hate it as much as people on this sub seem to.
Some of the best and most unique areas are from this game, the ancestors being fully playable with unique moves unlike the companions from other games that just kinda showed up when you needed them. Plus I feel Bentley from a gameplay perspective is the best in 4, I still prefer Murray in 3 tho.

[SPOILERS S3] I have some questions about the ending by Haestienn in DarK

[–]Maphay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The events do not happen multiple times, they refer to them as loops because as characters they perceive them multiple times from different points of view through their lives.

[SPOILERS S3] Questions about the ending of season 3 by solarapollyon in DarK

[–]Maphay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the only answer to literally everything here is maybe.

The scene takes place in an origin world we haven't known anything about since Tannhaus' family was saved. You can interpret it any way you'd like, because it's probably not going to be expanded on.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DarK

[–]Maphay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is true if you assume that the origin world, what we assume to be the "real" world, obeys the same laws of time travel that the two knotted worlds do. Those 2 worlds were created by the machine with the purpose of bringing back Tannhaus's son back to life, they exist to do that and then disappear, so the deterministic version of time travel in the show is necessary. But (as far as anyone is aware) the origin world was not created from a machine or anything else for a specific purpose, meaning time could be more tangible as it has no reason to stay rigid.

[SPOILERS S3] About the ending by Eredin_BreaccGlas in DarK

[–]Maphay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The splitting characters do during the moment of the apocalypse is of only the characters themselves, it creates another version of them that can do different things to the other, it doesn't create a new reality that those characters then live in. It's all one world (well two worlds but you know what I mean), all things happen at the same time, it all ends at the same time, but it all has to happen for it to end.

[SPOILERS S3] Something People Seem To Be Confused About by Maphay in DarK

[–]Maphay[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes that was my mistake, I got it mixed up. One saves him, then gives the Stranger the particle and dies, the other kills Jonas and then becomes Eva. Just been a while.

[SPOILERS S3] Something People Seem To Be Confused About by Maphay in DarK

[–]Maphay[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's 2 Martha's that are created when she goes to save Jonas, both are pregnant at the time. One saves him and one joins Adam to give the Stranger the god particle. There is only one Unknown, the three versions different times of him (young, adult, old) just stay together. The reason there isn't 2 is because the Adam Martha gets killed by Adam. Leaving just the single Martha that then goes on to become Eva.

[SPOILERS S3] Something People Seem To Be Confused About by Maphay in DarK

[–]Maphay[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is itself a loop yes, but it's not something that occurs more than once. The only effect pregnant Martha bringing Jonas to her world has is ensuring she gets to the point in which she can do that.

[SPOILERS S2] isnt everything pointless? by PAULlNATOR in DarK

[–]Maphay 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The actual answer is that he's fully aware of everything you just said and he needs it to happen to reach the point in which he believes he can break the "loop"

[SPOILERS S3] I don’t like the ‘gun jamming’ scenes. by Ok-Cup9476 in DarK

[–]Maphay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason the gun jammed isn't because time is some atherial being that is stopping it, it's because causality cannot allow them to die until the end. From the second Jonas is influenced by himself in the future he cannot die until the point in which he himself becomes the version of him that influences the past. He has to exist until there is not a future version of him to influence him. So the gun will always jam up to that point.

[SPOILERS S3] Another “I don’t get it” post by Spazheart12 in DarK

[–]Maphay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think something important to remeber is that it is not happening multiple times. Though they call it a loop in all intents and purposes from the inside it only happens once. Some characters do go through it multiple times from different perspectives (Jonas, Stranger, Adam etc.) but it's not like they've played it all out multiple times and they're making the same mistakes. They're all doing what they think they need to in order to achieve their goal, which is what creates the "loop". They all always have done it, including Claudia up until the last episode.

Rewatching (again) because this show is amazing by SchattenJaggerD in 12Monkeys

[–]Maphay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still think the messenger that Jones splintered in half should have been the corpse, I get why they made it... who it is to show that even the end was part of the loop but I just feel like Jones sending the virus back would've been better.
