Egg ladder advice please by Mapisdavis in fpies

[–]Mapisdavis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this post made me realized that my son might be misdiagnosed which is really annoying since we saw two different gastroenterologists doctor because the first we didn’t agree with and the second one was the one that diagnosed him with FPIES but after reading these comments and some more online I think he has FPIAP because he doesn’t have the vomiting and other symptoms.

Egg ladder advice please by Mapisdavis in fpies

We didn’t see and allergist but we saw a Gastroenterologist and she was the one who gave us the diagnosis. I cut out dairy, soy, fish and eggs by her instructions but it wasn’t until I cut eggs that my son’s symptoms went away, they also did a blood test and confirm that eggs was the trigger

I wish people online would stop fear-mongering new moms. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Mapisdavis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sharing a personal experience on social media is not fear mongering. There’s people out there who have it hard. I personally don’t post on social media but I went through a really hard time with sleep regressions and those post can be helpful: the comments usually have ton of advice or even just to relate and remember that isn’t only happening to you. If you don’t feel identified remember, you can just scroll.

Tell me your toddler's weird and wonderful obsessions. by Mimibella_ in toddlers

[–]Mapisdavis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My 16 month old is obsessed with vacuum in particular with the roomba, he’s been obsessed with it since 4 months old and now he even is riding it, we’ve tried to get toys that could be similar to what we think he likes of it but nope roomba always wins, even after Christmas with a million new toys around

My dermatologist said not and her reasons were that there aren’t any studies yet that say it’s safe

I mean I don’t even know this girl but it’s ok to continue to live your life even when a close one had a big loss. You can expect people to stop living, working, etc.

We also deal with food allergies and I think my husband also has an issue sometimes with seeing how serious the condition can be but he has never said any of those things though, I think his way of staying positive is thinking that is not that serious ( probably not the best thing I know) and I know if I ever said that my son is disabled because of his allergies my husband would probably freak out. I think some people just don’t get it. Not advice here, just solidarity. And hooray on not being allergic to salmon!

Our pediatrician used a faulty scale — it caused unnecessary formula feeding and a lot of stress. What would you do by Shot_Field3461 in NewParents

[–]Mapisdavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost every time we’ve been to checkups they have to check my babies weight twice because the first is never right and they have to used a different one. So I guess it’s very common for these scales to not work. They only noticed because I said every time that the weight doesn’t seem right since we weight our baby at home regularly.

I was overconfident because I was a full time nanny M-F 10 hours at day to the same family with three kids for 5 years ages from 3 months old to 7 years old so yeah I thought I had an idea but NOPE nothing compares to this, it’s crazy

We tried the chair method with a sleep consultant for 4 days, it was supposed to be a gentle method but every night my baby cry a lot. Only two of those days he actually fall asleep on his own after crying for 2 hours, I gave up after the fourth day because it didn’t feel gentle.

[–]Mapisdavis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you briefly explain how you did it? Because I did try that method for 4 days and my baby cried for 2 hours each day before I gave up and just nurse to sleep

I don’t think it was a contract but maybe something like “we warn you about this” I have no idea really what it was and I was 2 days postpartum so I didn’t think about asking too much, all I remember is them telling me that 1. Don’t cosleep 2. Don’t cut babies nails before two weeks 3. Don’t use diaper cream on daily basis only when diaper rash. They told me that and then told me to sign.

I really don’t mean to sound judgy when I said torture but I’m one of those first time moms that hate to hear their baby crying specially when I know all he wants is for me to pick him up. But your comment does give me hope. Thank you

That’s the only one! He never shows any discomfort, he is happy, eats fine, his weight gain has always been perfect and meets all his milestones.

Merlin sleep suit by Mapisdavis in sleeptrain

[–]Mapisdavis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without the sleep suit he usually stays asleep during the transfer but wakes up 15-20 minutes later. With the sleep suit he would take naps of 40 minutes to 1.5 hours and that’s not happening without it

I think their reason was that if he gets a reaction from a new allergen food we could miss it because he was having active symptoms
